Walking down the halls of Skyloft Academy, Levi wasn't really paying attention to where he was going. Instead he was thinking about the books in his arms. Soon he would be in his dorm room, the privacy he could use to his advantage. As he continued walking his thoughts drifted to how weird it was that Alex Sorel, promising knight and pretty good guy, had disappeared and neither Cassandra his suspected girlfriend nor the Skyloft authorities seemed very concerned about it. Granted he had vamoosed much earlier in the year but it still seemed odd. Levi kept walking and thinking about this conundrum and didn't see the other student walking around the very corner he was turning. "Oof!" He exclaimed when he crashed into her. "I'm sorry about that, wasn't paying attention to where I was going it seems." He scrambled to pick up the books he had been carrying. Just a few study materials and a couple magic tomes for practice. Levi had never been much of a magician, usually he relied on Thorn, his spear, in a pinch. He didn't want other squires knowing he was studying magic though, he did have a reputation to uphold. It never occurred to him that he might have grabbed some of his unfortunate bump victim's books as well as his own. LAIKA OF GS!

this is everything i wanted tonight. Feeling especially bruised and battered from yet another seemingly fruitless day of sword training, Gwen was tiredly dragging herself, her wooden sword, and her wind tome through the Academy so she could go home and have some tea, a bath, and a nap to soothe her wounded body and pride. It seemed like no matter how hard she tried, she never got the techniques for swordfighting right. She had received consistently low marks in the practice since she enrolled in the Academy. Sometimes she wondered if switching to a different weapon would make it easier - maybe she was better suited to a spear or an axe - but ultimately she had her heart set on learning the sword like a storybook knight, and deep down she knew that physical fighting was simply not in her skillset. She was a mage, through and through. That wouldn't stop her from trying to learn the sword, though. She'd try until the day she died if she had to.
Gwen let out a heavy sigh, idly dreaming of a day where she was fantastic and amazing at swordplay and every single one of the squires and knights looked on at her practice in awe; she turned a corner, and - wham. Sword on the ground, tome on the ground, and Gwen herself almost on the ground. She managed to catch herself before she fell, though. "I am sorry," she said quickly, stooping to gather her own things. "I was not paying much attention, either." Sword and tome in hand once again, she moved to be on her way - but she happened to glance down at the tome.
Fire. Most definitely not her tome. "Levi, I think we may have accidentally exchanged books," she said, turning back to face him. She smiled softly, a bubble of excitement growing in her chest. "I was not aware that you studied magic as well." | TAGGED: Levi Stone

It was Gwen! He had ran straight into Guinevere Martell. This girl had one of the most mixed reputations at the Academy. Some people said she was a bitch, a certain redhead could be heard mumbling those exact words almost daily. Others felt as though she was a goddess in Beorc form, people like the waiter down at the Lumpy Pumpkin for example. Levi didn't have an opinion of her yet, she seemed nice enough but with the way she looked now, if something upset her she might kill. "I'm so sorry for that" He apologized again before they started to walk away. Levi would have made it back to his dorm if it wasn't for Gwen calling him back. Levi looked down when she said the had exchanged books, sure enough he had a wind tome in his hands. "Great Hylia, I'm sorry about this too!" His profuse apologies kept coming. He held out Gwen's wind tome and grabbed his own fire tome back from her. "Well, um, I'm just holding them for a friend." He lied smiling weakly. "Magic is certainly something, my, uh, friend wanted to learn more than what we're taught in class but he was too shy to ask a teacher and too afraid to get the books himself." Levi made up on the spot, all the while frightened Gwen might see through his 'clever' ruse. "So um, what brings you here right now?" He asked, hoping to change the conversation topic. "You look a little tired, is magic use really that physically draining?" Levi was in good shape, and was one of the best at physical combat in school. He could count those better than him on one hand. But he wasn't sure if he could handle magic in battle if it was fatiguing like that. LAIKA OF GS!

this is everything i wanted tonight. "It is quite alright," she said as they exchanged books, letting out a soft, tired laugh. "Accidents happen, there is no need to be so distressed about it."
She frowned in disappointment. She had been hoping that someone she was at least vaguely acquainted with was interested in practicing magic; it wasn't exactly rare in Skyloft, all squires studied it, more or less, but very few were primarily magic users the way Gwen was. Maybe his friend...? "If it is not too much trouble, perhaps you could introduce me to your friend some time? I would love to meet someone else interested in learning magic."
Gwen shifted her belongings to one arm and lifted her free hand to touch her face, gently probing at the skin around her eyes. Did she really look that awful, that he noticed how tired she was? She really needed a nap. "Oh, no, this is not because of magic," she said, shaking her head. "Magic is simple. A little draining, I suppose, but not extraordinarily fatiguing, in my experience. No, this is..." she paused for a moment, wondering if it would be too embarrassing to divulge just how much a failure she was at physical combat, then figured her sheer incompetence was probably an Academy-wide joke regardless. "I was practicing swordplay," she admitted. "Or I was attempting to, anyway. Obviously it did not work out quite like I had hoped." | TAGGED: Levi Stone

» Introduce Gwen to his friend. His friend that he just made up. What happened? "Um... he's kinda shy and embarrassed about not being good at magic. I'm not sure if he would want to meet a great magician like you." Levi gritted his teeth at this flattery.
"You were training with your sword? That's actually pretty cool. Covering your bases is always a good idea." That had been Levi's plan too, except in reverse.
Levi looked at the disheveledness of Gwen. "I have an idea. I'm pretty good at physical combat. Maybe I can help you train in swordplay. In return maybe you can help me with magic." He offered, forgetting his story for a moment. "Er... I mean help me help my friend." His face contorted into a cheesy smile to hide his lies again.
