The sound of the waves ebbing and flowing was soothing to his ears against the evening noises across the town port. He could hear in the distance the lively merriment coming from a local pub where sailors and workers alike were drinking away a hard day’s work. Normally, he’d find himself gravitating towards that kind of environment and play a few games. Tonight was a little different. Why’s that? Commiserating didn’t really require more than one person. Although the man had already died and was buried at sea, Fionn had a promise to honor. He strolled through the boardwalk. Sea green eyes stared fondly at the rippling waves coming and going. Even in the darkness, with only the light of the moon illuminating the surface of the waters, it was hard to tell when the sky began or where did the sea end. “Hm?” he perked up noticing another figure coming from the opposite direction. The blonde got a better look at a sight he very much enjoyed. He tipped his hat to the woman grinning affably. “Excuse me, miss? A minute of your night? I need a little assistance if you would be so kind.”tags: Syrena Whittakernotes: I haven't found a post template I like yet for him so simple layout until then. *sobs*

WHEREVER THERE IS YOU I WILL BE THERE TOO Syrena was not actively searching for her next target this evening, but it never hurt to keep her eyes open. No, she was simply enjoying a quiet evening to herself while the other denizens of the harbor drank themselves silly as they usually did once night fell. Unless she was pressed into going to a tavern, then she preferred to avoid the wandering hands and lewd catcalls. It seemed alcohol was a good way to look past her ears and tails for the more racist men that enjoyed throwing slurs her way. No doubt a sane person would have left long ago, but going home was not an option for her, either. Her usage of steel weapons would leave her as dishonorable in the eyes of her people. Syrena tugged her cloak a little more securely around her body as she sighed at the morose thought.
At least the harbor was quiet if she did not listen for the sound of merriment. She almost wanted to sit at the edge and try and allow her feet to skim the top of the ocean water. A shame that her weight did not allow for that too well. Her ears twitched as her attention was caught was a blond haired male calling out to her. Syrena was surprised and wary that he had called out to her in greeting. Her expression was quite blank when he tipped his hat off to her like a gentleman. Was he even one in the first place? She had been here for too long to be fooled by a handsome face, and his garb easily marked him as a pirate. Gold eyes studied him cautiously as he spoke to her with such an ease that had her suspicious of his intentions.
Assistance in what? Syrena could think of one thing she would easily claw him over if he dared to suggest it. “And what kind of assistance would that be? Or are you in the habit of asking favors from every stranger that crosses your path?” she drawled with a sarcastic twist of her lips. A part of her was curious about what he wanted from her, though. As long as it was nothing lewd and perverted, but he did not seem the type. Well, she had the sense he could be in the right situation. @fionn Sey shall find a lovely template for him!

My, my~ Wasn't she the circumspect type? There were so many ways to take that inquisition but noting the biting sarcasm Fionn took it as a sign to meticulously chose his words. He wasn't in the mood to play cat and mouse tonight. Not when he had an honor to uphold. “Depends if such matters is a want, or a need. As of tonight, I am in need to search of a house in this port town,” he explained. Sea green eyes stared off to the town ahead of him passed the boardwalk. The sound of the ever moving waves in the distance only mellowed his mood slightly remembering the good times he had with his crew mate. “I've returned from a trip out to sea of many months. Unfortunately, a crew mate wasn't able to return. On his deathbed, he asked me to return his riches to his family back here in town.” What people fail to understand is that while most pirates are ruthless, rapscallions of the sea, there still was a code to follow. Fionn was a man of honor, but the details on his code could be considered questionable. “If you can or ever so desire, could you point me in the right direction of the residential district, I shall disturb you no more and be on my way.”tags: Syrena Whittakernotes: Nearly a month later. Nothing. OTL

WHEREVER THERE IS YOU I WILL BE THERE TOO Syrena still regarded the pirate rather warily as he voiced his question. Did she look like a tour guide? A small huff escaped her as she cocked her hip and placed her hand upon it. It was not like she had anything interesting to do with her evening, and she had no desire to visit any of the taverns and have some lech attempt to pick her up for a nightcap. She had lived here for years now, which made her quite familiar with the layout of the port. “I suppose you aren’t here all that often, then.” It would not be that much of a surprise. Pirates were most at home upon the open sea, no? Ports like this one were meant as a brief reprieve to restock the ship and allow the crew a few evenings of fun and alcohol.
Her head tilted to the side as she watched his gaze stare out towards the sea. Syrena looked to the serenely moving waves herself, wondering what he was thinking about. A hum of acknowledgement escaped her as her expression softened somewhat. Losing a friend was never an easy thing, and she felt sorry for the family that would learn of this man’s passing. It had her thinking of her own family that she had no visited in years. Returning home was not much of an option for her, since she would be regarded without honor among her own kind. “I’m sorry for the loss.” The sentiment would not likely mean much coming from a stranger, but she did mean what she said. It looked like her sympathies would be forcing her to agree to his request.
“I’ll do one better and show you there myself. You can get lost here rather easily.” Syrena did not offer a smile or any encouraging gesture to follow but to turn around and begin walking. The pirate would be smart and follow along if he had any sense. Kindness was not something she showed all that often, but she had a soft heart when it really mattered. Sometimes she wondered how she had survived living her as long as she had. No, she did not want to have an answer to that, or she would be inviting bad karma to soon rectify overlooking her. @fionn There are plenty of pretty templates~
