The first thing Vandal noticed was the difference in air quality. It was his first time venturing beyond his desert home, and he was thoroughly impressed with the sites he had seen along the way. It did not take long for the leader of the Gerudo tribes to make it to Castle Town. Everything was different, and he did not like the disparities between the Hylians and everyone else. Still, as Amala had told him earlier, it would not be wise to wage war with the current state if the army. So, at her wishes he would first try diplomacy. As he arrived at the gates he could tell that the guards were apprehensive. He brandished the Trident and the men opened the way for him to go through. He had been expected. While still at the fortress he had been given word that the Monarch of Hyrule wanted to speak with him. Vandal thought of the bad blood between the neighbors, and wanted to end it. If the Gerudo could achieve expansion with minimal bloodshed he could usher in a great age of prosperity. There was no telling what loomed, but he wasn't afraid. It didn't take the pharaoh and his escort to reach the actual castle. He looked it over, and once again he was impressed. The descriptions he had read simply did not do the castle not the town justice. He turned to his escort and smiled. Soon the doors to the main entrance opened up and Vandal was ushered in. He followed the host to what appeared to be an office, and was told to wait. The Gerudo nodded and watched the host walk away. There was a table, several chairs, and some other seats. He moved over to one of the other seats and began his wait.

my soul was filled with crystal light. Amala tried and failed to stifle a yawn as she and the Pharaoh approached the gates of Hyrule Castle. She gave up when the rush of air forced itself out despite her best attempts, and went about a routine of cracking her neck, knuckles, back, even her knees as Vandal did some gesture with his fancy trident and the castle guards let them in. She winked at one of the guards as they passed, flustering the poor dear, then turned her attention to their destination. She'd never been inside Hyrule Castle before, so this was sure to be an experience.
Another yawn snuck up on her, but she managed to fight this one back. She'd spent way too many late nights reading up on diplomatic negotiations and the history of the Hylian monarchy. She was reasonably well-versed in Gerudo history, of course, but she'd never really bothered learning about the rest of Hyrule. Given that she had been trained in spear fighting and hand-to-hand combat since she could walk, she'd also had little to no knowledge of political niceties until approximately ten hours prior to their arrival in Castle Town. She'd stashed the books she'd been reading under a bush when she abruptly realized she'd still been carrying them. Hopefully she could pick them up again before they left, though.
The Pharaoh smiled at her as they approached the main entrance and she grinned in return, viciously beating down the faint anxiety that threatened to churn her stomach. Doubt was not allowed. She was up to the task, and if she wasn't, then she was most definitely up to plan B. She'd rather not send her sisters-in-arms out to die if there was a peaceful alternative, however, so yes absolutely she could do this.
She was more comfortable standing than sitting, so she leaned against the wall next to the seat Vandal had taken, bracing herself with one foot and folding her arms across her chest without thinking. After a moment she noticed the position she'd taken and quickly corrected herself, pushing herself off the wall and standing at ease as they waited for the King of Hyrule to arrive. | TAGGED: @akira, @vandal

He snickered, and then smirked as he watched her trying to get comfortable. Truthfully, he wasn't comfortable here himself. Though he was pretty positive that nothing would happen to them, there was still a level of tension. Vandal wasn't sure what to expect. Though he had lived in the desert, and only experienced the desert, every Gerudo knew of the relations between themselves and the Hylians. It was painfully evident as both he and Amala were met with cold stares while making their way through Castle Town.
"Are you nervous?"
The mental pictures I keep with me...are they even real? I often find myself in a wonder that I inexplicably entered. No matter how much I try to escape, the power of these thoughts hold a great allure. There is no one sure reality, and I am afraid that I may one day be ensnared in the delusion of anticipation. Vandal did not want to get his hopes up. While idealistically, the two nations could avoid conflict, there would likely be dialogue that would not define anything.

A meeting with the Gerudo leader and his second-in-command was nothing to scoff about. The Crowned Prince of Hyrule was certain that it’d buzz across Castle Town of the arrival of the denizens of the desert. Julian spent the several hours listening to–albeit begrudgingly–to his royal adviser on ‘you must do this’ or ‘you must do that’ over and over. Never give the other leader reason to believe that what they’ve established over the years should suddenly change because their leaders suddenly wanted to try the diplomatic route. It wasn’t the first meeting he’s ever attended before with leaders of other races. The Gerudo, of course, were not of the frequent visitors. Certainly, it piqued his interest to at least hear out what the Pharaoh had to say to come all the way out of his domain.
A servant, whom the brunette considered his saving grace from his holier-than-thou adviser, announced the arrival of their v.i.p. guests waiting in one of the meeting rooms. Nodding his head, he clipped the last hook onto the royal cap holding the Royal Family's crest with royal colors over his shoulders. Wise Nayru, he really wished he didn’t have to overdress for the occasion. Tradition or not, it was too stuffy for his liking.
Upon entering the room, passed the threshold, emerald green eyes flickered up. Back straight and expression composed, he offered a hospitable smile.
"Lord Vandal Strife," he addressed the male born Gerudo. His gaze then fell over to the woman, "Lady Amala Ashaliya. Welcome to Castle Town. I pray your journey here was a safe one?" After sharing his greeting, he offered a short bow. Not too high to example superiority, but not too low to show he was below them. Straightening up, he waited for the exchange in brief pleasantries before taking his seat across the table to face both of the most influential individuals of the desert.
"I won't bore you with idle prattle or go into discussing what's already prevalent in our current state of affairs. Tell me, my lord, and lady... What is it you wish to discuss?" TAGS @vandal, @amala NOTES I smell political intrigue in this joint. |

Vandal was not used to Hylian customs, but he mirrored the movements of the Crown Prince. It was a bit odd to bow to someone he considered his equal. He looked over at Amala and motioned for her to do the same. The questions presented immediately made the synapses within fire like a machine gun. Almost instantaneously he had quite an impulsive answer. The words wanted to erupt, but he would hold on to it; first, he would discuss it with his Champion. At this point, he leaned in towards her and spoke so only she could hear.
"I have an offer I would like to make. We should go about conquering the entirety of the Desert Province. Upon conquering the mines we could offer that for Oceania. What do you think? I am open to all suggestions. This is but one idea. I also have another idea that I am about to put out in the open that I believe will greatly improve relations for all people."
Vandal then turned away from Amala and turned to face his equal. They had to be about the same age. Perhaps the prince was a bit older. Still, his youth would probably aid in Vandal's persuasion for more progressive policies. He inhaled and exhaled deeply. He then turned to Amala, smiled at her again, and then refocused his attention on the matters at hand.
"You from birth were groomed for politics. Out in the desert we are trained to be warriors. It has perhaps been this way since the dawn of time. I however believe that we should attempt to better our world through dialogue. This is why I am here. There are many things on the agenda, but above all else I propose that we begin a trade union. The trade union could bolster the economy of both our nations and improve relations amongst our people."

my soul was filled with crystal light. Amala's face contorted into an expression that could only be described as blech at Vandal's question. "A little," she admitted, glancing down at the Pharaoh. "I prefer beating my problems over the head with a stick, honestly. No action and less sleep is making me antsy." Regardless of how this meeting went, after it was over Amala thought she deserved a very long nap and an even longer flight with Garrus. She was getting itchy in her skin, having a harder time fighting her impulses than usual. She'd have to actively plan out her words to avoid putting her foot in her mouth. It'd probably be best if she mostly stayed quiet.
Her face managed to fix itself when a servant arrived to announce the arrival of the Crowned Prince of Hyrule, and she even succeeded at pulling up a smile that was more polite than lopsided, which she considered a great personal success. She also participated in the general greeting bow, sinking lower than either ruler did for each other. The Prince was in what looked like very uncomfortably stuffy clothing, but he was younger and kinder-looking than she'd expected; she was picturing a grizzled old bear, honestly, but he was probably about her age. A man grown, but not weary. Cute, too. "Perfectly safe, Your Majesty, thank you," she replied politely. It was true, actually. They'd run into very little difficulty along the road here.
Amala only barely managed to restrain a sigh of relief when the Prince got straight to business, though she was sure it showed on her face. She'd been anticipating a few hours of pleasantries and thinly veiled back-and-forth passive aggressive jabbing before they even began to edge towards the actual purpose of the meeting. His straightforwardness earned him a point of respect in her book. She glanced to Vandal, expecting him to take the lead here, but he leaned closer to her to speak quietly into her ear instead.
"Depends on what we find in the mine once it's clear," she replied softly, offering a small, apologetic smile to the Prince. "It's old and it may not be worth such a valuable territory; port cities are near priceless on any continent, and even if the mine is a potentially valuable resource, it's still in the middle of a sand sea. There's a reason hardly anyone beside us settles in Desert Province."
Abruptly she realized she was still standing, which was... probably not good, since the Prince was sitting. And Din only knew how long this discussion would take. She pulled out one of the seats directly across from the Prince, offering it for Vandal, and quickly claimed another right next to him as her own. She stayed silent through the Pharaoh's proposition, though she nodded in support of it. That was a good, reasonable start, she thought, and fairly self-explanatory, though she wondered what the trading would consist of. But that question would come up on its own, most likely, and she didn't want to automatically assume the Prince would accept the proposal, so she kept her mouth shut for the moment. | TAGGED: @akira, @vandal
