MAYBE I'LL BURN BRIGHTER TODAY ► Some days it felt as though the world was moving in slow motion. The people walked slower, talked slower and the time ticked away at an even slower pace. It was days like this that killed Kairi sometimes. She always was moving at such a fast pace it was almost insane for her to want to stop and smell the roses or pay attention to the world. But today wasn't a day for her fast paced life, today the world moved in slow motion and Kairi sat and watched it pass by. Though a large part of why these days bothered Kairi was the fact that her body simply didn't like sitting still, that wasn't the part that she couldn't stand. It was the fact that as the world moved slow but her mind raced fast. Even though Kairi would never admit that she's stupid she will admit she likes to shut her brain down sometimes, and just not think for awhile. But it was almost as if boredom or maybe loneliness was a trigger for it to turn on at full force. Kairi never really was a worrisome person, anxieties weren't what her mind was full of. Little things, like riding the high seas with her mother. Exploring, all of that. She missed her old life, her mind brought along times that she knew would never come back. Of course she'd try and reassure herself that finding Rath was better then nothing but at times it was honestly at times a hopeless effort considering that wasn't quite the problem. So for once she didn't have the energetic fire around her that she always had, and she walked slowly through the streets of Castle Town in hopes to find someone who knew something. Or at least some kids that she could play a game with or something, to be honest. Right now anything was better then the pain in her chest that she was feeling.

MAYBE I'LL BURN BRIGHTER TODAY ► AAAA I FORGOT YOU POSTED | @jonzie |
Kairi couldn't really tell what this feeling was, well at first. She just started feeling like a small tingle up her neck, and then slight anxiety. Over what? Her first thought were the people around her, the crowd was getting to her. But no no, it wasn't that. People were never a problem for her now, that was something that wouldn't change. Then it had to be something else. Was someone following her? She realized this was the feeling you got when someone was watching you. Her first instinct was to turn around and yell at them, tell them to screw off and that staring at a little girl was perverted a creepy. But even she knew not to make such a scene in such a large crowd. So, she continued to walk, hoping to come across some ally she could drag the pervert into. Biting her lip she was starting to get upset that she wasn't even getting a good opportunity to look behind her. Not until she heard a big noise. Turning around to see what had caused it, she made eye contact with a young boy, not some old man. She stared at him for a long while her face flushing, slightly embarrassed that she had assumed it was a perverted old guy. He was covered in a rainbow of fruits and even a few broken ones had smushed across his face, but his eyes didn't stop meeting hers. Not until the vendor began screaming at the boy. Kairi wasn't sure, no she wasn't one hundred percent. But her journey might just be over with. So she walked over to the vendor and pulled out the last bit of her money. Which honestly, was a nice amount and gave it to him. " I hope this covers it." She said, ignoring whatever else the vendor had to say. Bending down, Kairi pulled out her hand to him. " Need a hand?"

You're a new thirteen. Wide-eyed and nervous just like me. Don't grow too fast. There's a lot of little things to see.You see, it makes me crazy to see you twice as big this time. I'm so happy just to catch you on your climb. -- sister of mine * Even this close to the girl, Rath still had trouble recognizing her. To be quite honest, the objectionable peering wasn't even caused by faint familial resemblance. It was more that she kind of looked like him, but as a girl. Something about that just fascinated the boy. Oh shit, did he have a twincest thing? No, no, no Rath. No, this is the line, your sister is the fucking line. Understand? Good. Now proceed back to being pummeled by a rainbow array of tropical fruits. Gross little shit.
Cut back to a poor adolescent being beaten up by gravity and inanimate objects. A miserable moan escaped his pursed lips. Ow. Ow. Ow. Rath's arms flailed. This was a demoralizing and almost pathetic spectacle. The boy's brain scurried about, wondering ways to remedy the situation whilst minimalizing shame. No such solution came to mind. He swam in defeat over the stone slabs under him, as the familiar little girl strolled over to him. She had a cute perked up face that seemed to blur a line between furiousness and determination. Approaching fear, the boy hurdled into a ball, cornered between her line of sight and the screaming vendor. Rath buried his head to pacify the yelling, only lifting it slightly once the yelling ceased.
His eyes met the girl's as she handed change to the vendor, who proceeded to giggle and shut up, barely muttering under his breath. Despite gleaming a radiant violet, her eyes were the same shape as his. Her brow furrowed in the same manner, except her's had a determined glare. Rath's just always looked defeated. She crinkled her little button nose, just tinier than his own. Being the doofus that he was, Rath moved his arm to the side ever so slightly, to see if she would mirror it. No, that was just stupid.
But who was she? Why did was she so eerily familiar. The boy contemplated his family tree in mind, approaching a surprising conclusion. It wasn't that he ever forgot he had a sister, but he mostly remembered her as a baby or little toddler. Afterwards, he was always too sick to spend time with a little girl who was always running about. At this time, it was as if Kairi looked different every time he saw her. So his mental projection of her stayed stagnant to her at three years old. Yet, there was no denying that the girl in front of him was his sister.
A small tear began to form in his eyes as he quivered. "Kairi?" he asked meekly, not knowing what response he merited.

MAYBE I'LL BURN BRIGHTER TODAY ► Her hand wasn't taken by the boy's instead her violet eyes were fixed on his lips as they moved and spoke one word. Her name. Moving from his lips to his eyes, she just stared at him for a long moment unsure on how to respond, before finally saying a simple phrase. " Well at least you remember me." She laughed a bit at herself. This was the first time in a long time that Kairi wanted to cry, actually Kairi didn't think she had cried since she had left her mother on the ship. Which, it had been awhile. But, instead of crying, she grabbed the boy and pulled him out of the fruit. " Come on, you can't just sit there in that mess." She said, without giving him much of a choice. It'd had been so long.. and she was hoping that everything just would.. work? That he'd love her and she'd protect him and then.. and now.. what? Did she go and find her mother again? Doing what her mother couldn't? No. She was kind of hoping that Rath had a plan but.. it seemed he was more into following little girls and running into fruit stands. Or maybe she was just trying to not.. thing about it. " I uh.. it's..." She was at a loss for words. Did he even think about her? She had dedicated so much time to find him but.. did he even miss her? Once? She looked at him blushing for a moment. " Did ya miss me?" She asked with a grin.

You're a new thirteen. Wide-eyed and nervous just like me. Don't grow too fast. There's a lot of little things to see.You see, it makes me crazy to see you twice as big this time. I'm so happy just to catch you on your climb. -- sister of mine * Some people are strong. People who hold in tears at emotional moments, an almost bittersweet closing to a life consuming journey. People who keep face for their loved ones, feign brave compositions.
Rath was not a strong person, and the second Kairi asked if he missed her, the boy broke down into tears. Refusing to look his sister in her gleaming eyes whilst in this state, he leered at the stone pavement as his eyes rained upon it. Between undignified stutters and sniffles, the child managed to force out a "y-y-y-y-yes" before wiping his face and forcing himself to calm down, although his throat was still tight with hysterical muscle spasms.
This wasn't about him. He didn't want to make it about him. It wasn't his misery or sorrow, it wasn't his journey. He laid stagnant, he idly accepted his placement for four or five years without sparing any thought about people he left behind. He didn't fight it. Of course, there was no knowing if she did either, but Rath just assumed his sister was an infinitely better person than he was. If she had been looking for him, she deserved a better outcome than a beaten dead shell of a boy had already started off pretty much a corpse. It was time to be a big brother.
Rath hugged Kairi tightly, making sure to never forget what this moment felt like. Finally being put together enough to know hug his sister. He hasn't had a reason to be fragile in four years, but he finally had a reason to be strong. Just not strong enough to hold in the unconditional drips that slowly leaked down his cheeks.
"What are you doing here all alone?" he asked, stern with several ounces of concern.

MAYBE I'LL BURN BRIGHTER TODAY ► Sorry, I totally forgot you posted | @jonzie |
Kairi wasn't really sure how to handel the crying. It was almost like she had just broken up with a girl and she was an ex boyfriend at a loss for words, and unsure what to do. So, the tough girl who wouldn't ever let anyone see through her clever ruse. Started breaking down too, well breaking down for her. There were just a few tears that snuck past her guard. When his arms entrapped her into his warmth she smiled softly, feeling a little silly. Why wouldn't Rath miss her? He had to of had this connection that she felt too right? They were siblings afterall. Sighing, and finally letting go of him, but keeping the distance close. What was she doing here? Ah.. honestly she got very embarrassed about it all. She was spending all this time looking for him, and now he probably hadn't even considered taking a second to look. " Ah.. well.." She decided to be honest with him, not matter how embarrassing it was. " I'm looking for you." She said " I have been for about a year now.. I left mom to do it you know?" she commented, her face flushing over having to admit something so stupid.
