SEPTEMBER
NEWSLETTER
NEWSLETTER
Hello and welcome to the first edition of the Eternity's End Newsletter! Here you will get an up to date summary of the site, potential future events and everything that you need to know in order to well, keep up to date on the happenings of the site.
Our first order of business, the shops are starting to spring up, which is a wonderful thing! While the admin shop exists and there are an infinite number of the items in stock, meaning no refills, the rupees go nowhere. It'd be a huge abuse of staff power to transfer the rupees for any items purchased from the admin shop to our character's wallets, so quite simply; we don't do it. Rather, buy your items from your fellow players whenever possible. They get the rupees and it helps. Them. Even if it ends up a little pricier than the admin shop (which it likely will never happen), get your goods from them when possible. Spread the love, yo!
On the RP front, things are quite active after our initial two weeks. Some roles have been freed up due to inactivity and some reservations have been expired. If you're wondering what's open now, go take a look. If you're worried about your role; as long as you've been posting then there's no need to worry about it. Reasonable reasons for being gone will also extend the deadline (we know some people are in classes and even juggling a job along with it). That said, don't assume I'll just know. Give me, or Mjrn, or Melon a heads up.
Speaking of RP though; Rulers! If you have not done so; register your armies. You cannot take part in large scale battles unless you have done so. We've got a couple characters itching to start things.
On the quest front, the rules have been updated to include two new difficulties (Master and Lunatic), these require staff permission to run and usually only show up for admin events, though with permission one with those two can be ran. There are also now definitions for a character's ideal strength in order to tackle a quest of certain difficulty. That said, you can try out higher levels if you're prepared yourself accordingly. To those who are familiar with the SMT series (particularly the mainline from Nocturne onward), follow the golden rule; buffs, debuffs, and weaknesses are your friends.
On the plot front, I'll be blunt; there's no admin plotline to follow this time. Why? You are the plot. You are the ones that make history and forge the events of the site. Whether it be through war or peace, love or hatred, you can shift the entire paradigm of the site and change the world, so get out there and get posting! While admin posts may show up in response, you guys are the ones dictating the plot because you are the plot.
On the events front, the Advertising Contest is still going, and if you have not taken part and wish to do so, grab our ad here and plaster the ad over as many sites as you are comfortable with, then post the list here. All we ask is that you check to make sure no one posted on that site first; it's rude to that person, and the site's admin, to multipost on the same site. Keep your eye out because there'll be IC events popping up within the next couple of days.
Finally, if your character's birthday occurs within September, then once that day passes, feel free to boost both their hearts and magic points by 1. If you have an IRL birthday during this month, then once it comes around, post in the birthday thread here and pick your prize. That said, don't cheat and change your birthday. If you do, the security log tells us outright that you changed it. We'll know.
That is the end of the Newsletter, I think. If Mjrn or Melon want to add anything, they can. But this is the September Newsletter, OTMs will be up next month, and we hope you continue to stick around and enjoy your stay. Nightlight out.
Development funfact: Originally, Shadows were planned as a playable doppelganger race; they were originally split into two subgroups like the Laguz; artificial shadows (created through magic like Dark Link), and true shadows (genuinely created from one's negativity and hidden desires, "I am a shadow; the true self.") They were eventually cut due to the realization that playing another character's shadow (at least a true shadow) required an extremely intricate knowledge of how that character worked (something very difficult to get right) and that racially, it functioned almost identically to the Twili race.
