There is no happy here Another uneventful day at the Pumpkin. Rath twaddled his thumbs, impatiently hoping that patrons would eventually come in. His eyes glanced over to the steaming pot of Pumpkin Soup, simmering for just about 5 hours. Perfection. The kind of broth you needed to preserve in a bottle for a rainy day. He did just that, humming along as he poured the only thing left in the world that gave him any semblance of joy. Right into his glass jar, he clamped a lid on it and buried it in his satchel. Nayru knows the the things he and Aspen put in there could make it last months. Of course, nothing in life is free. The proprietress would slaughter him if he'd taken a liberty. He put down 3 blues and a receipt, or rather a scrap of paper with a pumpkin heart drawn on it. As Rath looked around the empty inn, much more optimistic this time, he noticed a peculiar looking sword. Light seemed to radiate off of it in a glorious spectrum of colors. It looked like the kind of sword that he'd only read about. Although, closer inspection revealed that it was simply a glass sword, but that was still pretty cool. The waiter took it upon himself to hold it, just to see what it was like. It was heavy in his hands, with somehow heavier metaphysical burden weighing in down from the tip. Yet it's hilt had a certain grace about, as if it could dance through his fingers. The allusion of this moment to the "a sword picks it's owner" cliche, that the boy had read in just so many books, was too blatant to ignore. Of course, this clearly belonged to someone and Rath frowned as he read the insignia etched onto a scabbard. He knew exactly which low-life left it here. Contemplating his own moral standing, the boy knew that the owner had long forgotten about this poor blade. After all, when was the last time they had customers? He rationalized taking it, but felt obligated to leave a purple and an orange on the man's tab. -150 for the Glass Sword -15 for Pumpkin Soup (Employee Discount) -165 Total! |
