HAI YAI FORCES
Business so far, seemed to actually be turning out fairly well. Not exactly mister popular, Nightmare had been earning enough to keep himself afloat, and keep himself fed and such. Soon, he'd almost have enough rupees to get Silversnake sharpened and return it back to its former glory. Then people could stop laughing at his dull weapon and he wouldn't have to rely on those new powers of his. He really wasn't sure what to make of those, to be honest. He just found that he could enchant weaponry with any element and he wasn't exactly sure why he could do that. It unnerved him, but he'd be lying if he said it wasn't useful.
That said, in the middle of his musing, he'd heard a knock on the wall. Another customer? Excellent excellent. He hadn't had anyone all day; another customer would give him something to do, which would mean he could get more food, and would do a better job of well, surviving. His mind drifted to Skyloft. He had to be honest, he missed the nice bed in the academy. He missed being able to fly on Gwaihir without looking over his shoulder. Most of all, he missed being able to spend time with Cassandra. He wondered how she was doing now.
No point in keeping this newcomer waiting However. "Yeah?" He called out, making it clear that he was actually available, and that it was safe to come in. Walking out of the entrance, he stared the woman in the face... as much as he could anyway, were it not for that hood. "Oh, come on in." He motioned inside. It'd be his usual office, but maybe they could work something out there.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► After waiting a moment Rune got a reply. She wasn't even really sure what she was doing. To be honest she just wanted to meet some more people, even if they were like.. what are they? They're not like a gang or anything right? Mercenaries she just assumed they did odd jobs for hire. She didn't exactly have anything she wanted from them, she didn't have anything to ask for at all to be honest. " Thank you." She commented, running possible things she would need to hire him for. Not that it was all that big of a deal to her, the worse she would be doing was wasting his time and it's not like there was a long line of people behind her or anything. Actually this section of the world felt pretty deserted right now. Stepping inside she looked around, it was a little beat up. Which was kind of a shame, not that she'd expect him to have a steady income doing what he was doing. Man, if she could think of something to help him out she would. " So you're a mercenary group, like.. is it strictly combat. Or what exactly?" Rune wasn't sure if he was like the Shepherds except for payment or if he just like would go and do an old woman's shopping. Ugh, that sounded extremely distasteful. I guess it was easy pay for an easy job though. Maybe she could ask him to go shopping for her.. not that she didn't have someone who would go and do it for her already. Man maybe she should have come here when she wanted to fight a war or something. Not that she wanted a war to happen, but it was just the only good job coming to her head.

HAI YAI FORCES Now that he had her attention, he was rather glad that he had at least someone who might be interested. Walking back into the old fort, he plopped himseld down on a simple chair in front of a simple wooden table. That was his business desk. He hoped someday to upgrade to something that was a bit more... fancy, but there was nothing that could really be done about it at the moment. It was kind of funny, he had so much ambition for this company, but at the same time, he had to realize that this was just more something to survive. But at least hearing her out might help in that department.
So she was interested then? She was asking about errands! Maybe she actually had a job for him that he could take care of or something. Which meant more money, which meant he could eat more often and not die of malnutrition. "Well, combat is my specialty. I was raised by my old man and shown the ropes." He lied with a simple shrug. But it was a believable thing; try and make it seem like being a Mercenary was a family business. He was just coming up with his own company rather than continuing on some sort of family tradition. That seemed to work well enough for him, and it was beautiful in its simplicity.
That said he wasn't above manual labor. It's not like he was so prestigious he couldn't be hired to like, carry bags or something. Work was work. "But errands aren't that difficult a thing." Though then again, he was an ex Knight of Skyloft. If they knew that then it probably would be pretty prestigious, if extremely shady, to hire him for a job. Leaning back a bit, he let her come up with something. Maybe she had some sort of job for him. Even if it was simple, or the pay was a little low, it was better than nothing,

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Rune just kind of nodded unsure on what to say next. Her head was running through different jobs in her head, but all of them she literally could get for free. So instead she looked at his desk and his chair, then slowly around again. " This is kind of a weird place to have things set up though, like.. how'd you get this place?" She asked, honestly interested. Even if it was through like illegal means, to be honest Rune wouldn't give a damn. It wasn't like anyone was using it, and she for sure didn't need it right now. Looking back at the guy. She was a little at a loss for words, she was kind of hoping there would people running around doing cool things and she'd find a fun place. Instead she kind of just had this. " So are you um.. hiring?" She asked, not really sure. Maybe she could recruit some of her friends or shepherds... or. Wait why wouldn't she be able to do this herself? Honestly, she'd love to do more for people, outside of the Shepherds and this could be a chance for it. " I wouldn't need to be paid.. it'd be mostly just to get back into the combat game again." She commented. Of course she went and did combat every now and again, but Rune really did like it and any extra opportunities for it.

HAI YAI FORCES How did he get this place? What an odd question to be asked. Nightmare blinked a couple times, looking around the abandoned fort. Right, there really was no heroic tale of how he single handedly stopped a bandit outcrop in order to take this place, was there? Now that he doubted he could do such a thing, but still, it was a bit of an... underwhelming tale. "I... guess I just kind of did? No one was using it, so I just sort of moved in." He threw out there. There really wasn't anything to the story, so in a way, he found it kind of embarrassing that he answered like that.
Still, there was the matter of what she was offering. Free labor. She wanted to do things for him and yet not get paid in order to get back into the swing of combat? Was she a fighter then? He blinked again, this really was turning out a bit odd, wasn't it? "You're looking for a job then? As in, getting hired, employed." Well, he wasn't really sure he could do the expansion thing but if she was willing to work for free, that might be good. But it seemed odd that she was claiming to be a fighter. "As for the combat bit, do you have like, a weapon or something that you can use?"
Really, thinking on it, if worse came to worse he could probably use that axe he had in order to act as a sort of public weapon for loans or something. He wasn't really sure, but if this woman could defend herself with weapons of her own, then that would just make it all the better. So for now, he leaned forward, clasping his gloved hands together in what he felt was actually a fairly professional position. He just needed to wait to see what she would do. Honestly, he still found the whole thing to be a bit weird.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Honestly, Rune was surprised to hear him considering the offer. As soon as she said it she felt like it was a strange thing to offer. Looking at him for a long time she paused at his first question. "Ah, yeah I guess I am." She said to him. Though she felt a little awkward, honestly Rune felt very excited about it. In reality, this was a cool opportunity and she thought it could end up being really cool.
Rune smiled softly when he asked about the weapon, and she quickly was aware of the sword strapped at her side under her cloak. One of her most prized possessions. Honestly Rune wanted to laugh at the question. "I've got a weapon, no worries." She replied rather quickly, obviously amused by his question.
Rune stood proudly in front of him in hopes that he accepted her offer. It'd be nice to have something outside of her duties as an Exalt to do. Not one where she was the leader or queen, as much as she loved that, but to be considered a real person.
At least she didn't think this guy knew that she was the Exalt, yet at least.

HAI YAI FORCES Okay, so she was armed. That was something that he could look forward to; he wouldn't have to supply her in the future. Well, so long as her weapon wasn't absolute garbage or anything. Wouldn't that just be awful for him to have to deal with? He didn't quite want to put that axe in the public funds just yet; he figured he could get some really good mileage out of the package. "Alright, then I imagine I won't worry about having to equip you or anything." That was out of the way. To be honest, he never did this before, it felt kind of odd for a first time.
Right, there were probably still a few other things he should go over, like what she had, if anything, to hide. "You don't have any debts I should be aware of, do you?" Simply because if anyone owed any debts; well then they owed Nightmare now. He'd work something out, sure, but their debt would pretty much transfer to him. They could either work it off or pay him outright, it was their choice. "It'd be a major headache for me if someone were to suddenly show up demanding payment." Paperwork and possible physical violence, he really didn't need any right now.
He'd have to make a note to watch for that in the future. But for now, there was one other thing he wanted to know about. "Do you have any special abilities? You know, areas where you tend to shine. Any weaknesses I should be aware of too?" Nightmare looked around for a moment before getting a hold of a piece of paper and a quill to try and write everything down. If she was going to be working for him, then he needed to know this stuff. There might be jobs where she might perform better than anyone else.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Shifting her body weight a bit Run thought about her debts. She probably had some that her father owed. She wasn't sure about any of it to be honest, and any of those would be headed through a lot of people below her and certainty not... she looked at the man. This random guy. "None that you have to worry yourself about." Was her only truthful answer.
She wondered if this guy would recognize her if she took her hood off, she was the Exalt. So probably. But on the other hand she really was getting annoyed by her obscured view. Plus, she just in general wasn't one to hide away. He'd probably find out eventually. But not quite yet.
Special abilities? She thought for awhile, she was trained as an Exalt. So.. anything that she was good at was just expected of her. She wasn't really sure how to answer that. Weaknesses were even harder, because the Exalt was supposed to be flawless.
"Well... I guess I've been trained since I was little in combat. I also have been trained in history, math, literature.. I mean I'm just a big bundle of knowledge I suppose." All of her schooling was what Rune was good at. Her actual presentation when it came to it all though.. wasn't quite up to par to be honest.
"I guess a big weakness would be I stand out really well.." She thought about the paparazzi, and the people who she met. "While other's really want my head." She sighed, wishing she wasn't blamed for her father's mistakes. Whatever. She'd deal with it eventually, everyone would look and realize that she wasn't like her father.

HAI YAI FORCES No debts then, that meant he didn't have anything he really needed to pay off. Or at least she would take care of it herself instead of trying to use him as protection. So there was that. But hearing her strengths, and then her weaknesses. It wasn't exactly difficult to piece that sort of thing together in just a few seconds. She was trained in far more than a normal mercenary or peon would be, and people had grudges against her. "Noble or Knight then, got it." He just remarked as if it was nothing. He was more surprised at a female Knight though, as far as he knew, they usually went... well, Pegasus Knight was technically a knight, so no, that wasn't a surprise.
That said, now he was getting curious. Resting his cheek on his balled up fist, he tried to look under the hood as much as he could and... no luck. Okay, that wasn't working, he'd have to try something else. Thankfully, part of the teachings at the Academy DID include things for other cultures and such. Made sense, it'd be bad form to show up for important business from Skyloft then completely screw up the entire diplomatic process just because you didn't bow properly or make the right sign or say the right greeting or something stupid like that. But it did give him something that he could potentially use.
"You know," He breathed out. He was pretty curious about why she was hiding herself. "I've been rather polite, but I should mention something," He continued onward as if it was ultimately nothing. "It's the custom of Ylisse that people should lower their hoods when in the presence of another; it's a courtesy thing." His eyes wandered to the wall then back to the girl, maybe that'd be enough to get her to remove the hood and show her face.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Rune was pleased when he wasn't surprised, upset, or turned off when he figured out that she was either Noble or a Knight. Her shoulders relaxed a little bit after hearing his uncaring voice. Still, as he continued to ask her to remove her cloak Rune's teeth went and clenched her lip in uncertainty. Worse that could happen though was that he turned her down. "It's also rude to ask people to remove their clothing." She smirked, then shook her head.
"But I suppose I could comply." She said, taking her hood with both hands and took off her hood. As it fell to her shoulders she shook her hair out, the long pink mane going and flowing down to the ground as she pulled it out of the cloak. Having it clinging to her skin like that got annoying, so the second she could she took the chance to let her wild hair free.
Shrugging at him, she wasn't even sure if he'd recognize her, but she made a simple statement. "Hello, my name is Rune Darius, and yours is?" She asked, hope that he would still treat her the same. People who think she needed to be worshiped really were the worse. Then again, this man really didn't seem like the type.

HAI YAI FORCES She complied, cool. He waited for her to simply remove the hood, and for a few moments he didn't say anything. Mainly because he was too surprised to actually say anything. Then, once he was finally able to find his words, he snorted. "Of course." Of course it would be the Exalt herself. He was wondering why in the world she was here, there had to be more than just wanting to get herself some experience in combat. He did doubt she was here to take him into captivity, she'd have brought more than one person for that, unless she thought she could take him. He supposed that was understandable, to anyone else, he probably just seemed like a regular Mercenary.
To say that this had gotten awkward would be the understatement of the century. Here the Exalt of Ylisse was standing right in front of him, asking for a job. He knew of her, but never met her personally. No, it was her father he'd met, sort of. Battle could be a chaotic thing, and thanks to him, a lot of knights and squires had died that day. He wondered if she'd still want anything to do with him if she knew where he was from. "You're paying if you want me in your Shepherds." Maybe she was actually trying to recruit him by working for him. His history lessons had told him of how the great Lords of this continent would often recruit people from all over to fight for them.
Needless to say, he wasn't doing that for free. But if the Exalt wanted to join, then that meant she gave the company some strengths. "You didn't exactly mention that you were an expert on dragon slaying." Oh yes, he was very aware of Falchion. Supposedly she had the Fire Emblem too, but whether or not she had it on her was another question. "And assuming you're serious about this, cut out the noble training and use a different name." This whole situation was something else. He wasn't sure how Cassandra would take to meeting with the Exalt's grandkid.
"Anyway, I go by Nightmare Darklight. Long story, very boring. Don't ask."

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Fuuuuck, things just got awkward she stared at him, annoyed. Sometimes she would just get so pissed off that people would know her off hand, sometimes she wished she could hide. All the excitement Rune had built up over the whole thing was switched to pure disappointment, convinced there was no way that he'd let her work for him now.
"The shepherds? No. I'm not recruiting, that's not really my job anyway..." Of course, she liked the shepherds and all of that. But this was different. He helped others, other countries. She wasn't doing this for Ylisse she wanted to help everyone. Though she probably could get the shepherds to go to such lengths, it wasn't their job.
Though, she blinked as he mentioned her dragon slaying skills and she laughed a little. "I couldn't make it that obvious could I?" She honestly didn't think he'd know that at all, that was something she liked to show off in the middle of battle. Not something she wanted to mention.
".. I am serious about this. But, only cowards hide. A warrior stands tall with no fear of their enemies." She commented with a cross on his arms. Hide her identity? She was kind of doing it just now, but she wasn't planning on for long. Plus, she never lied and said she WASN'T the Exalt.

HAI YAI FORCES Well, at least she still seemed serious about doing this, and she didn't seem to remain all pissed off about him knowing who she was. That hadn't completely passed him by. He could feel the tension that had been in the air. Though in all honesty, he wasn't too sure if she was actually infuriated, annoyed, disappointed, maybe a mix? But he was at least able to try and alleviate things somewhat. "I know of Falchion, and the Fire Emblem." Granted, he wasn't sure what the Fire Emblem really did anymore. But he knew that Falchion was known for being a dragon's bane, so he knew where to put her at least.
Rummaging through his papers, he finally found something that could probably work for now. He wondered, should he have her sign her real name or an alias of hers? Well, likely real. He'd be the only one with access to these files. Plus knowing her true identity, he was at least able to get a basic idea of strengths and weaknesses. Pulling out some sink, Nightmare dabbed the quill in the ink before handing it, and the paper, to the Exalt. "Sign here." He pointed near the bottom of the contract. Looking back for a moment, he rummaged until he was able to bring out something red.
Pointing by the line for a signature, he also pushed the red container forward. "And put your thumbprint... here." That's what it was, a signature by way of a red thumbprint. At least he was nice enough not to require it in blood. No, that would only come into play if he ever found himself having to use darker magics in order to keep people in line. Though maybe he should look into that someday. People bound by way of a geas could be very helpful when the time came.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Rune wasn't sure what to feel right now. It was alright she guessed, honestly she wasn't even sure what to think of this Nightmare guy... what a lame name. She'd laugh if it weren't for fear of insulting her new.. boss? Huh. What a weird feeling. She wasn't in charge. As much as Rune hated being told what to do.. it was kind of nice to have a break from it. " Well that's kind of disappointing, I had to admit I kind of like showing them off to the clueless ones." She teased, her lips going into a soft smirk. Hopefully he didn't mind her teasing him a little. Leaning over, she took the pen, looking at that paper nervously. Well, there was no going back now. She signed with her large fancy signature that she was forced to recite over and over again. Honestly, it was totally to flashy for her and she wasn't all that fond of it. But once you gain a habit it sticks. Looking at the red ink, honestly she thought it was kind of silly. But, she stuck her thumb in it, and put her thumb print right where her instructed. And backed up looking at the paper a bit. For a split second, unsure as to what to think of it all. And if you made the right decision. But quickly let it go, deciding no going back now. So, she only allowed herself to feel excitement for a new experience.

HAI YAI FORCES She liked showing it off? Well, he had to admit, perhaps he could see the joy in doing such a thing. Getting to show off the legendary blade Falchion might have been something that she rarely got to do. Even less so was she confronted with dragons. In fact, unless she'd been dealing with Plegia as of late, she probably wouldn't have dealt with wyverns either. Even though time may not dull the blade, Falchion would surely grow bored if it never saw any use. But, "I'd be dead if I was clueless." It'd be better or Nightmare personally if he knew of these weapons. He really didn't want to be on the receiving end of one.
Taking note to watch her closely as she signed the contract, he swiftly took the paper from her once that was done, rolling it up into a scroll and depositing it into his desk. It'd remain there until she left, then he'd go put it in a locked chest in his room. Plus if he knew what was what, then if any of them went rogue, then he'd know how to be able to take them down if he had to. He couldn't help but mentally smirk at the imagery of a rogue preparing for people to go rogue on him. But on the flip side, the idea may not have ever come to him if he himself had not bolted from Skyloft. Sometimes, he wondered how everyone was doing.
Folding his hands in front of him, Nightmare shrugged. "So that's about it then." He wasn't really sure what else there was to do now that he had effectively recruited the Exalt. That was a weird thing. "Anymore questions? If not then I imagine your living accomodations have already been taken care of in the castle. Unless your advisors don't mind you vanishing for a couple days, then I guess you could set up camp here." This was all still rather new to him.

I WAS MEANT TO BE A WARRIOR PLEASE ► Watching as the man took the paper from her, Rune wondered how strong that contract was. Whatever. She didn't think he had anything out for her, nope. This guy seemed pretty trust worthy, and as long as he didn't get a job to kill the Exalt she figured he wouldn't do anything with it. So she nodded at him as he spoke. " Looks like it." She said. Thinking about it she couldn't help but think she needed more questions but in the end she shook her head. " No more questions that I can think of." And then shrugged " Maybe I'll come crash in every now and again, but yeah. Probably mostly in the castle. I'll come here daily to check in though, see if I'm needed or anything. IF you uh.. even need me just come to the castle I'll tell the guards to let you in." She shrugged, hoping he wouldn't abuse that power. She'll probably have them escort him to, but she wasn't going to mention that just yet. After all, not everyone can just walts in willy nilly. " Whelp, if that's it, and if you don't have any jobs lined up right now. I suppose I could get going." She said, not sure if he wanted her to stay or not. So she waited for him to reply before making any movements for the door.
