Here, you can actually get your own animal companions to help you out here and there. They are split up into three categories; Domesticated, Farm, and Wild. While there is no better category, they each offer a variety of different choices to help suit those looking for a companion.
Animals are also unique in that they can actually be upgraded. Their hearts can be upgraded by buying heart points in the shop, and their own natural weapons, such as teeth and claws, are counted as weapons, beginner weapons when purchased, and can be upgraded as well. They can be incredibly useful in a fight, but it will cost well over 20000 rupees to make them deadly, and even then they'll never be up to par with an actual character.
As for animals in combat. It works like this really; even though you can upgrade your animal, that's not for you. If you have weapons or blessings or anything like that, your animal companion cannot fight at all. Animals fighting is really only meant for pacifists, characters that are averse to violence at all costs, but would still like to dungeon crawl. You can fight mounted on your animals if you can realistically ride them. Mounted combat exists, but your animal companion won't do any fighting unless your character is A) A strict pacifist and B) They can fight. Some can't.
Like the other ways of shopping, make an IC post in your shopping thread if interested.
DOMESTICATED
Domesticated animals are like the animals that we have in our day and age. Dogs and cats and expensive pets, along with one that might act as a guard of sorts. They are the most common and you should have little trouble acquiring them. Aside from a couple, they are also the most likely to listen, the easiest to bring around as well without raising eyebrows. An excellent choice for those that enjoy taking their animals everywhere
Bird
It's a bird. There's really not much to it. Though Parrots, specifically the talking kind, tend to be popular. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 10

Cat
Cats are evil. That's a really quick way to describe them. To go into depth, cats are small, fluffy little creatures that can melt even the stoniest of hearts. However, do not let their cuteness deceive you; they are manipulative. Very independent, cats do what they want when they want, and good luck getting them to listen. It is not unheard of for a cat to cozy up to someone just because that someone had something that they wanted. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL.
Cost - 50

Dog
Man's best friend, at least that's what the dog is called. Domesticated descendants of wolves, the dog has always been a loyal partner to mankind. They're cute, they're sometimes fluffy, they usually make for great guards, and they're loyal. Hell, the larger dogs have been known to let children ride them.
Cost - 100

Remlit
What is that thing and why are they so cute. They're... something like a cat, with mouse ears, or something. But that doesn't stop them from being small and adorable. They also have the ability to fly, though they can't support another person. The reason they're so expensive despite being so similar to cats is simply because they're native to Skyloft, which as anyone will tell you, is notoriously difficult to get into. Really, the ones you see either fell or were willingly given by a denizen of Skyloft. Be careful at night though if in Skyloft, they get aggressive. They don't seem to have this problem anywhere else. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 200
Hearts -
Chain Chomp
You know, that is actually kind of cute. What that thing is however, is a Chain Chomp. A massive sentient ball of metal, with a full grown Chain Chomp being bigger than most people. Native to the island of Koholint, the Chain Chomp makes for the best guard dog anyone could ask for. Surprisingly swift, this giant ball of metal can easily close the distance with a simple lunge, allowing it to sink its massive teeth into anyone unlucky, or stupid enough to get near the thing.
Cost - 500

FARM
Farm animals are just that; animals that primarily come from a farm. Handled by one of the various ranches across the world, these animals are tame and very useful, and enjoyabe to have around. Though some might raise a few eyebrows in the various cities. This is where to go if you want to get a steed that you can ride across the various lands. If you want to be able to get out of your country, this is the way to do it. Buy a horse or a flightless loftwing.
Cucco
The iconic Cucco is known worldwide, not just in Hyrule, but in every part of the world. Known for being rather delicious, and strangely adorable, Cucco also have a strangely vindictive nature, so abuse is not recommended. Cheap and easy to come by for the most part, there is some strange variations, two being outright rare. While black and brown cucco are just as common as white, there has been occasionally a blue colored cucco here and there, and even stranger and more rarely, a gold cucco. The best part is they can be used to glide if you are light enough. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL UNLESS TWO OTHER CUCCOS PLAYED BY OTHER CHARACTERS ARE IN THE THREAD.
Cost - [NORMAL] 10 | [BLUE] 30 | [GOLD] 50
Hearts -
Pig
A pig. Not much to it, honestly. They're good for sniffing out ingredients, and they can grow to colossal sizes, but that's all there really is to them. SMALL PIGS DON'T FIGHT.
Cost - NORMAL SIZED 25 | LARGE 75
Hearts - [NORMAL] | [LARGE]
Goat
The Pride of Ordona, the Goats are large, yet strangely cuddly little things. Their cheese is considered a delicacy, especially when used as a spice. With elaborate horns that form a circle, they're easily recognizable, even if those horns allow for a ranch hand to get a very good grip on them. Despite this, they have a surprising amount of push, and anyone unprepared may find themselves flat on their back after getting rammed by a goat.
Cost - 150
Hearts -
Horse
Horses are one of the best friends that people can have. While they do not hold the loyalty that dogs do, they are much faster than said dogs, much more durable too. In fact, they're the most durable kind of animal one can get on a farm. They are very pricy though, but practical. Most horses are able to easily jump gaps that most people cannot, and are the prime choice for any knight in service, and really the prime choice for any cavalry period. It is however noted, that the best horses tend to come from Lon Lon Ranch. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 300
Hearts -
Pegasus
Pegasi are beautiful animals in and of themselves. Extremely loyal to their rider, they are native to the Halidom of Ylisse, and they are effectively what makes the Pegasus Knights so deadly. With their wings, they are able to fly through the skies, granting incredible mobility. However, they are very pricy. They can come in black or white colors. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 400
Hearts -
Flightless Loftwing
As paradoxical as the name might suggest, they exist. The Loftwings of Skyloft have always held a near mythical status due to their heavy association with the legendary Knights of Skyloft, and as such, many have tried to breed them. They actually succeeded, but the Loftwings proved far too fire tempered and thus breeders tried to make them more docile. They succeeded at that as well, but at the cost of their ability to fly. Regardless, these flightless Loftwings are actually quite docile, and in short bursts can actually outrun a horse, though they are nowhere near as durable. They can however, make brief, high jumps. Despite the rarity of a Crimson Loftwing, there are many of their flightless cousins, as due to said rarity, crimson birds are quite highly valued. They come in Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, White, and Black colors. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 500 | 750 for a Crimson one.
Hearts -
WILD
The animals of the Wild. They take a sort of special touch. They are not as easily tamed as the others. However, should they be won over, they can be as helpful as the others. One of them even provides access to the world, sea, and sky. Most of them are able to actually talk, it's quite fascinating.
Monkey
It's a monkey. They have thumbs and... well there's really not much to them. They can be extremely smart, and they can talk, but that's about it. NOT A FIGHTING ANIMAL
Cost - 20
Hearts -
Fairy
Not really animals, but more a companion, these fairies are actually rather different than the fairies that can be bought, the kind that can wake you up when you go down. Mainly, these fairies can't do that. They're not able to. Despite that, they are rather talkative companions, at least able to keep things from being too quiet, and they make for a rather great lightsource. They're also very friendly. Should a very gain their true potential (20 Hearts), they are able to take on a more human form into a Great Fairy, and be registered as an NPC. SMALL FAIRIES CANNOT FIGHT.
Cost - 50
Hearts -
Kikwi
A strange, almost bird-like creature that is native to the Faron Woods. They are rather hard to find and prefer to stay to themselves within the safety of the trees. They can grow to be taller than one would think at nearly three feet, and they waddle rather cutely to get around. As they are quite shy, it takes much to earn their trust. When gained, a Kikwi is quite loyal and sticks with their new owner. Capable of speech, these odd forest dwellers are full of surprises. NOT A COMBAT ANIMAL!
Cost - 100
Hearts -
Bullbo
The mounts of the 'Blin family. Bulbins, Moblins, Bokoblins, you name it, this is what they ride when they need to get around. Bullbos are docile one minute, and throwing a tantrum the next. They're also the only Wild animal that cannot speak. That said, what they lack in the mobility of a horse, they make up for with brute strength, able to bash through many different types of barricades to help you where you need to go. They also taste really good when roasted.
Cost - 150
Hearts -
Keaton
If you've seen a Keaton, congratulations! You've seen something most people won't ever see. If you've managed to get one to stick around with you, even better! Keaton aren't very loyal though, and have been known to sort of go in and out of their own accord. They are however, quite good at riddles, and usually pose them to someone. They are also the one animal, that once they achieve their true potential (20 Hearts), that can take on a humanoid form, and be registered as an NPC. Though they unfortunately cannot get rid of their ears or tail(s). CAN FIGHT IN HUMANOID FORM.
Cost - 300
Hearts -
Bear
The beasts that have always looked cute and yet have always managed to cause an unbearable amount of pandamonium. Despite their unbearably cute appearances, they are bearly anything to laugh at, much less good pets. Try to keep them from going bearzerk though, or you may meet a grizzly demise like your foes. The truth is you have to have been completely ursine to get one of these. There have also been known to be flying bears.
Cost - [NORMAL] 500 | [FLYING] 1000
Hearts -
Wyvern
Little more than dragons that have gone feral, Wyverns are difficult to capture and even harder to train. However, if you manage to succeed, you will have quite the powerful mount on your hands. Thick skin with sharp claws and capable of flight, the wyvern's only real weakness is that it is slower compared to other flying mounts.
Cost - 700
Hearts -
Griffon
An extremely rare, and extremely odd flying mount. These things are impossible to domesticate and if you're flying one, well more power to you, not sure how you did it. Griffons are winged beasts that have an eagle's head and wings on its back, but with the talons of a bird for forearms, and the legs of a lion for hind legs and a tail. It's an oddity that no one's ever been able to pinpoint, but it's still ferocious in a fight. Faster than the wyvern too.
Cost - 800
Hearts -
UNIQUE
These are animals that are only obtainable under certain circumstances. The list will be expanded as time goes on.
Loftwing
The legendary mounts of the Knights of Skyloft, swift as the wind itself. The Loftwings are often considered the pinnacle of beauty, and no story without a Knight of Skyloft is complete without their flying companion. At the age of 13, all denizens of Skyloft receive their Loftwing. Each Loftwing is bound to their rider, and will allow no one else to ride them unless their rider wishes it. Forever connected by a telepathic bond, a Loftwing is at its rider's call no matter where the rider is. Despite this, a Loftwing despises the surface, and will quickly return to Skyloft should its rider disembark on the surface, save for absolute emergencies. Loftwings come in many colors, from black to white to blue to green, any color is possible. Crimson however, is considered to be the most rare, and is often taken as a sign. Despite this rarity though, there is actually no performance difference between a Crimson Loftwing and a non-crimson Loftwing. It all depends on the rider.
Cost - None. SKYLOFT DWELLERS ONLY.
Hearts - Due to the incredibly close bond Loftwings have with their riders, a Loftwing's HP matches that of its rider.[/font][/ul][/div][/blockquote]
