Mela was hungry. Usually when hunger struck her she would find something and kill it then fry it over something. The fact that it was night was a major hindrance; most edible animals were sleeping now and the ones that weren't were just too much hassle to hunt at night. So all of those dominoes led Mela to Ordon Village tonight. It was obvious that one of the houses here would have some left over food, maybe the general store.
"Yes!" the thief whispered to herself when she saw a pie cooling on a window. That's just the thing for her grumbling stomach. Stealthily, Mela slinked her way through the shadows towards the pie. She quickly grabbed it ignoring the pain brought on by the heat emanating from it. She then ran as fast as she could to her secluded hiding spot at the mouth of the stream that came through the rocks. Using her hands as utensils, Mela began eating. Her stomach was aching so much now, she didn't care if anyone heard her eating.

Baako was settled in at his camp site, a spot not to far from town amoung the tall grass. His tent was pitched, a small cooking fire established and roaring while he cooked the fresh fish his mother had packed for him. At least, he was trynig to cook the fish. The teen never really helped his mother cook, and when he did it was only to flip the meat or help cut the bread.
Baako did his best, slathering some additional vegetables to hopefully bring some flavor, but the end result was an overcooked fish with burnt veggies. Taking a tennative bite of the meat, Baako immediatly wished he hadn't as a foul taste washed over his tounge with a wrath like never before. He ran from his camp, legs speeding with all the force he could muster towards a stream he'd gone to earlier. Ducking his head into the cold water, the brown skinned boy drank greedly with the intent to wash the horrible taste from his mouth.
After after four big gulps the boy pulled back and breathed in the fresh air, the tips of his dreads soaked and dripping water. It was then he noticed what appeared to be a child around his age eating something not to far away. Naturally he was curious, and called out to the person, "Hello?"

Having been too busy tearing into her stolen pie, Mela didn't hear anyone coming close until a single word was spoken to her. Perking right up, Mela groaned as her warm apple deliciousness fell top first into the water. At least half of it had gotten into her belly. "What do you want twerp?" She asked the kid who had disturbed her feast. He looked younger than her, a year or two maybe. His skin was darker than hers by a lot and his hair was all clumped together. It was all such a dreadful sight. His ears were weird looking too, misshapen she supposed. They were all rounded and such, not pointed like any normal person's.
"What's wrong with your ears?" She blurted out. "Don't worry about the pie. I didn't want it very much anyway. Too hungry." She prattled on. Her question was still the first thing on her mind. She might be behaving a little blunt but she didn't notice, or care. She just wanted an answer to her question. And food as her stomach began growling again.

'Twerp?'
Baako had honestly never heard that word before, but the way she said it kind of sounded like something another child would call him. "Umm I'm not sure what a twerp is, but my name is--what?" Immediately he reached up to touch his ears, noticing that they felt normal to him, nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn't until he looked at her ears that he realized where the question had come from. The girls ears were very much pointed, like knives sticking out of her heard, but made of flesh. "Woah, i've never seen ears like yours before."
Baako didn't even notice the pie floating down the stream, instead he was transfixed by the girl before his eyes. She was the first 'stranger' he'd ever met on his own, no parents to ease over the awkward transition or inform him about the girl, and he was not sure how to really handle all of it. Luckily he was saved by a rumbling in his stomach, a low groan that begged him for nourishment, preferably one better than the meal he tried to ingest before. Looking sheepishly at the girl he felt heat rising into his cheeks while he hung his head.
"Sorry I'm a bit hungry...say do you know how to cook? I tried but it didn't go so well."

"What? That's a strange name." Mela told the kid in front of her. "Alright then What, my name is Bink. I live in the forest." Not technically a lie since her surname was Bink and she did live in the forest. The talk of food made her stomach grumble even more. "I can't cook very well but anything is better than soggy pie." She said as she watched her meal floating away from her. "Do you have anything you want cooked What?" If he didn't, there was sure to be fish in the pond nearby.

“What? No no, my name is Baako.”
Baako wasn’t sure if he was screwing up his first encounter or if the girl, Blink, was just messing with him like some other children used to do. “I do have some fish, one cooked and the other caught earlier today. If you want it you can have it since I made you drop your food. My camps over here, follow me.” Squeezing his dreads and hoping all the water was out of them, Baako turned and headed back towards his tent and supplies.
“You live in the forest? Is that where your family is?”

Fish? Mela liked fish. "So where are these fish you're talking about?" Mela asked the poor boy. He gestured in the direction of a campsite. "Why are you camping in the forest when there's a village nearby?" Mela asked, not really caring. They were heading back to where Baako was camping.
"That fish is nasty!" The thief said when she tried the cooked fish at Baako's camp. "What how did you cook this? If I didn't know any better I would think you tried to poison me!" Why would What want to poison her? She didn't know him and he didn't know her. "My family?" She paused at his question. "Only my parents and me but right now they're in Castle Town trading. They'll be there all week they said." Mela had a lie for just about everything and if she didn't she would make one up.

“Well the inn requires ruppies and I’m kind of scarce on money.” Baako watched as Bink dug into his poorly cooked fish before he could warn her. To be fair she didn’t really ask, and her reaction was far to animated for him not to chuckle. “I swear it’s not poison, I ate some too and that’s why I ran over to the stream to wash out the taste. I used some vegetables, but maybe I over did it? I probably need spices, but I don’t have any money to buy them or anything.”
Sitting down at his camp, the brown skinned boy reached into his pack and withdrew two apples, one of which he tossed to the girl before he dug into one himself. “So your parents are traders? Do they trade food and stuff like that? Actually never been to Castle town, heard my grandparents live there though, wonder what it’s like.”

Mela bent down and stoked the fire that was slowly dying. Why was she still with this kid? He had no money and nothing of value, she just couldn't find the answer to her question. "Yeah. They're gone a lot. They used to take me with them all the time but then one trip they caught me in a back alley with a boy and refused to take me along any more." That should keep this twerp from getting any ideas. But then what if she wanted him to have ideas? Ahh! Her life was so difficult!
The fire was going strong for what Mela assumed was the first time if it's original starter was anything to judge by. With that done, Mela picked up the fish What had actually done a good job of cleaning the little bugger. "So what you have to do first is sprinkle some herbs in the pan before you put the fish in." Mela told Baako in a matter-of-fact manner despite not having a clue what she was doing. "What vegetables were you using?"

He took a bite of his apple, loving the tangy tart taste that filled his mouth as the juices lathered his tounge. It was getting late, the sun had long ago set and not for the first time Baako was thinking of home, thinking of his parents. 'I wonder what they're doing now? Are they worried about me?' The teen was sure they would be, and taking another bite of his apple, he turned his attention back to his guest.
"I used some lettus, carrots, and some brocoli. Maybe i shouldn't have used so many?"
Baako wasn't sure what to make of Bink. She seemed very odd, what with her pointed ears and very strange words, but then again he rarely had the opportunity to talk alone with another child, so maybe this was normal. "What happened in the back alley that made them not want to take you anymore? I remember one time my parents took me to town and I ran off. I ended up getting lost and when they found me they made me swear to never run off again without telling them. They tanned my hide pretty good but the still took me to town. Is that what happened with you?"

"Oi! You used lettuce? No wonder. Lettuce doesn't do well cooked with fish. You serve it raw with a cooked fish." Mela said not knowing if anything she just said even made sense in a culinary sense. Luckily for her this kid didn't seem to understand how to cook either. It seemed to her that he wasn't much use for anything other than talking to. Now that the herbs had sat in the pan for a while, Mela laid the fish on top of them.
"Yeah that's exactly what happened." Mela agreed with Baako's suggestion. "I had wandered off and met up with this boy and we started feeling each other up. My parents found us with our clothes still on thankfully. They were pretty mad and refused to take me with them trading again." It was so much easier to keep a lie going if you could remember what you had said before. So far Mela was doing good at that.

“Really? Here I thought lettuce was good cooked or not. You can have at it if you’d like, I’ll just eat another apple if I get hungry.”
Indeed the more the pointy eared girl spoke, the less Baako seemed to understand. Why would her parents be worried about having their daughter having cloths on in the alley? And from the way she said feeling her up the farmer wasn’t really sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Still, if she was going across the countryside eating by streams and doing whatever she wanted Baako would count himself somewhat lucky since it also meant she was experienced at the ways of journeying.
‘Maybe she could tell me about what’s around the area besides farms and woods. It’d be nice to go explore a cave or wrestle with some wild animals like they did in the stories.’
Now all that was left of his fruit was a very skimpy looking core, which he chucked towards the stream. “So, if your parents aren’t around does that mean you’re all alone? What do you do when they leave you? Do you travel the land doing whatever you please, or is there a certain range you can’t wander past?”

The fish was done. "Well if you're sure you don't want some of it." Mela teased Baako. The young girl tore off a piece of the fish and started eating. Amazingly enough the fish tasted good. The only problem that she could find with it was it was a little tough and chewy. For someone who hadn't eaten in a couple days, Mela wasn't one to be picky about the texture of her food. Taste was another issue though. She couldn't eat something that didn't taste good.
"Yep! I'm all alone out here." Mela responded gleefully. "Well until my parents get home that is. I even have these two daggers to protect myself with. Wanna see them?" She reached for where she kept them hidden. "See? This one is my mother's dagger." She held up the red hilted dagger. "And this is my father's." She held up the blue dagger.
She thought for a moment before answering Baako's question about traveling by herself. "Well I don't usually leave the forest but whenever they leave I explore this area. I don't think I've even stepped in my house since the day they left. It's probably all filled with monsters now." She played with her blue dagger. "I suppose I should clear them out before my parents get home."
