YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Oh, Guinevere loved their days off! She loved training, too, of course, but even a diligent young lady such as herself liked to indulge in a day of lazing about every now and again. Normally she would spend her free days wandering about Skyloft, checking the clothing shop for new products and staring wistfully at the bows in the Academy's armory, but today she felt like doing nothing more than snuggling under her blankets and sleeping the morning away.
Unfortunately, she felt quite unable to sleep. She tossed and turned for a good half-hour, trying every sleeping position she could think of, before finally admitting defeat. Gwen was just too excited about... something. She wasn't even sure what. She was just excited! In general! All the time!
She finally crawled out from underneath her blankets, got dressed -- she smoothed out the wrinkles in her nightdress and hung it up in the armoir -- and carefully made her bed before venturing into the hall. Perhaps she would hunt down some breakfast. Somewhat late breakfast -- for Gwen, anyway -- but breakfast all the same.

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Ashe was beginning to wonder if it was even safe for her to leave her bedroom now. Of course, she had been more than excited when she had been given the role of the Goddess for the Festival this year. Had she known it would incite the younger squires to follow after her in an attempt to garner her favor? Not quite. She had completed the sailcloth required for the ceremony for when she would give it to her ‘chosen hero,’ but she was not in the mood to deal with more young boys following her around. She had worked hard this year to be considered for the role, and she would not be giving this favor to anyone attempting to sway her. This ceremony should be meaningful and the one that gained this sailcloth should be worthy of it. Perhaps she was taking this too seriously? It did not matter, since she would play the role of Hylia as she deemed fit. The cloth had been tied around her waist to keep it in place, since she did not trust anyone not to sneak into her dorm in an attempt to steal it while she was gone. Alexander had managed to get into her locked room, so why could others not make the attempt? At least the white fabric went with the majority of her dresses, right? Hopefully no one would try and untie it from her, or she would really be giving that idiot a black eye to think about. Ashe sent a brief prayer to the Goddess to guide her through the rest of the month. She would need all the luck in the world to make it through this Festival unscathed. At least this presented the denizens of Skyloft with the chance to visit the surface! It was only Castle Town from what she had heard, but even the chance to see a part of Hyrule would be memorable. Well, she could not hide within her dormitory for the entire month. Ashe would simply have to hope no one would bother her as she ventured around Skyloft. As she left her dorm room, her eyes caught onto the familiar form of Guinevere. Her expression brightened when she caught sight of her friend, and she was only too happy to make her way towards the younger female. “Gwen! I am so happy to see I am not the only one getting a late start. I doubt you were not hiding away like I was, though,” she greeted with a sheepish smile as she gestured to the sailcloth tied around her waist. At least she knew her friend would not be jealous and cold like the other female squire had been when they learned Ashe had been chosen. Oh, she certainly hoped not. YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Gwen whirled around with a broad grin on her lips when she heard a familiar voice call her name. "Ashelia!" she shouted, and bounded up to her friend with an energy that was simply inappropriate for one who had just started their day. She was perky like that. She had the 'endless' brand of cheerful.
Guinevere giggled. "I meant to sleep in properly, but I just could not stay in bed. Things to do, places to be, you know!"
Her smile quickly twisted into a frown at her friend's sheepish gesture towards the sailcloth around her waist, and she crossed her arms over her chest. "Are the boys giving you trouble?" she demanded. "Of course they are, who am I kidding? Oh, you poor dear. I know playing the role of the Goddess is a grand honor and so on and so forth, but if it brings about this much trouble, it hardly seems worth it! I do not mean to belittle the honor, as I am very happy for you, of course, and I could not think of a better candidate if I tried, but honestly." Guinevere paused to catch her breath, then huffed and looped her arm around the older girl's. "To think that you did not even wish to leave your dormitory! It is an obscenity. Oh, but you do not want to listen to me prattle on. Would you like to go out for a bit after breakfast? I was thinking of paying dear Charlotte a visit. It is such a beautiful day."

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Now if only Ashe could get Guinevere to call her by the diminutive of her name, then she would really be happy. The younger female was more formal than herself. It was a part of her charm, though. Seeing her excited energy was a welcome relief from the pestering she had had to dealt with over the past day or two. Who knew being the Goddess could be so trying? Ashe did giggle at the thought as she smiled bright in return at her friend. “You are lucky we have no lessons today, then. I doubt the instructors would like you being late.” How nice it was to have a day off from instruction and flying lessons. No doubt Caedmon would enjoy the break from being taught the more complicated flight patterns. The spiral charge was still something that gave them trouble, but Ashe knew they would master it with time. Her smile faded as Guinevere frowned at her admission. Ashe had not meant to worry her friend about the role, but it was nice to speak about it to someone. She doubted she would be able to speak with any of the other females her age. Some of them were treating her quite coldly. She had yet to run into Alexander after her announcement in the role of the Goddess. Hopefully she would not for a little while, since she did not know how he would react. Attempt to ingratiate himself into her attentions even more, or act the same as he always did? “Thank you, Gwen. I was very happy and honored to be given the role, but I did not expect such a reaction from it,” she replied. Guinevere soon linked her arm through her own, which Ashe was only too happy to return. Breakfast did sound like a wonderful idea right now. Her stomach felt somewhat empty, and it would take her mind off of her current predicament. As long as no one attempted to ambush her in the cafeteria, right? “I would love to visit Charlotte after breakfast. Perhaps I can coax Caedmon out as well. He has been more vigilant since I was given this role. I had little idea the younger squires knew about me until now.” Honestly, a part of her could not wait to hand this sailcloth over at the end of the month. The only problem being was to who she would give it to. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Guinevere laughed. "I would not dare sleep in if we had lessons! The instructors would have my hide for sure!" She paused for a moment and tilted her head. "Though I am not sure how Charlotte would react if I were scolded in her presence. Perhaps she would have the instructors' hide, instead!"
Of course, Gwen couldn't help but worry for Ashelia's well-being; though she was certain that no one would dare harm her fellow squire, she imagined that being stalked by a group of boys attempting to win the young woman's favor day in and day out would be exhausting. No one deserved to be assaulted with so much unwanted attention, Ashelia least of all. Especially considering that she dealt with enough with it without this special event. Just thinking of Alexander's inappropriate behavior set Guinevere's blood to boiling -- seeing it spread to his ilk nearly caused her to combust.
As she escorted her friend into the cafeteria, three boys shot up like someone had set fires under their rears; but as Gwen shot them a fierce glare, they slowly retreated to their seats. She couldn't help but let out a loud harrumph. "They are arrogant little... buttfaces, are they not? Perhaps you could have Caedmon teach them a lesson in respect."
She led Ashelia to a deserted corner of the room. "Here, perhaps?" she asked. "I imagine you would like to be able to eat in peace and quiet. Well," she giggled, "as quiet as it gets when I am around, anyway."

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted The instructors certainly would be cross if any of them decided to sleep in during their lessons. Ashe had never done such a thing without good reason. Only sickness would have her missing her classes at all. A shame for Alexander that she had not become sick during her flight through the rain a few days ago, right? Her lips curled into an amused smirk at the thought, since it was a small victory for her. Hopefully his Loftwing had not been too upset with him for calling him out so needlessly. Gwaihir liked the rain even less than Caedmon from what she could tell. “I believe Charlotte is quite sweet. Then again, I am lucky I am on your good side, no? Otherwise I am sure such kind behavior would change in an instant,” she replied with a giggle. Her own Loftwing was often the same concerning anyone other than herself. He liked Guinevere quite a bit, and he hardly like anyone. The trip to the cafeteria was not that eventful, but Ashe could hear the chairs scraping back the moment she entered. Her lips thinned slightly as her body practically emanated her discomfort and annoyance at the reaction from the boys. Guinevere certainly had a more visible effect on them than she did. Her fierce glare was enough to send the boys back into their chairs. Ashe really hoped they would not attempt to approach her, or she would not regret using a little force to get her point across. She wondered if the Goddess had ever had to endure such attentions. “It is certainly a tempting thought. I think Alexander keeps the worst of them at bay, if only so he can have my attentions all to himself.” The sad fact was that it was completely true. She followed after Guinevere as she lead them to a more quiet corner of the cafeteria. No doubt her intimidating friend would keep the worst of her new fan boys away. “This is wonderful, Gwen. And I would much rather have your friendly chattering over my new fan club any day,” Ashe replied with a slight sigh. Goddess, she certainly would not be getting much rest this month, would she? She had to decide who would be getting the Sailcloth she had made after all. A ‘chosen hero’ for this year at the very least. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Guinevere grinned at Ashelia's compliment towards her other half. Charlotte would like to hear such praise, she thought, so she gently nudged the loftwing through their telepathic connection and relayed the compliment. She was silent for a moment as she pondered it, then her pleased chirrup echoed in Gwen's mind.
"Charlotte agrees with you," she said, unable to restrain a giggle. "She believes she is quite sweet as well. She may even let you pet her as a reward for such a kind and accurate evaluation of her character."
Guinevere narrowed her eyes at the mention of... him, and scowled at the boys in the cafeteria. They hadn't done anything, but she suddenly found herself quite irritated with those of the opposite sex. "Alexander Sorel cannot possibly keep the worst of them at bay," she declared, "as he is the worst of them. That boy does not know the meaning of the word boundaries."
Though she wasn't entirely aware she was doing it, Gwen kept her irritated gaze on the three boys from before. She was clearly making them uncomfortable. She did spare a moment in her intense glaring to grin at Ashelia, however. "'Fan club' is a phrase for it. I was going to suggest 'stalker brigade', myself."
A spark shone in Gwen's eyes as an idea occurred to her. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, her gaze landing back on the boys as she did so. They looked downright fearful, now, as the animosity was rolling off this usually friendly girl in waves. Another few moments, and they fled the cafeteria.
"I have a solution!" she said triumphantly, a little louder than she'd meant to. She leapt to her feet, and swept into an exaggerated bow in Ashelia's direction. "If you will have me, my dear lady, from this day until the day you bestow the Sailcloth upon your chosen, I shall be your personal protector, deterring any and all grossnasty boys attempting to gain a favor which they do not deserve, using physical force only if necessary. Or if Alexander is involved."

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Ashe was quite happy to hear that Charlotte thought kindly of her compliment. The Loftwing was certainly a proud creature, and much more so than Caedmon. A rather intimidating being, and a perfect fit to her rider. Guinevere could be scary to those that got on her bad side. Emerald eyes sparkled with amusement at the boys cowering in fear from across the cafeteria. If only she could keep her friend around her all the time, right? “I would be very honored to be allowed the chance to pet Charlotte. She is quite beautiful after all.” Her tone was slightly teasing, but the sentiment behind it was true. Of course, Ashe did believe no other Loftwing could match her own in terms of beauty. It was a biased thought no doubt everyone had. Alexander believed Gwaihir to be the best, and Guinevere thought the same of Charlotte. She was a little taken back at the fierce scowl on her friend’s lips at the mention of Alexander. Well, now she knew how Guinevere thought about the ardent male. “You are certainly apt in your description of him,” she replied with a weak laugh. Alexander had little concept of the phrase ‘personal boundaries.’ Honestly, there were times when she half expected him to leap out of a corner in an attempt to kiss her. Ashe really hoped that would not be happening too soon. Would he really try and do so with her role as the Goddess this year? Oh, if only she had know that the role would garner her this kind of attention! She had very much wanted to emulate the Goddess, but did it have to entail such a grouping of boys now wanting her favor? Her brow quirked as Guinevere gained a sparkle in her eyes, and soon enough three of the boys had fled at her dark glower. What did her fair haired friend have in mind now? Emerald eyes widened as Guinevere jumped from her seat and bowed to her in an extravagant manner. Pink lips curled into a bright smile at the offer her friend made. Giggling to herself, Ashe stood and held her hand out for Guinevere to grasp as she did her best to emulate how the Goddess would act before her Chosen Hero. “It would an honor to have you safeguarding my being and remaining vigilant against those who may wish me harm. I am in your care, Guinevere Martell. As gratitude for your valiant offer, you shall be looked upon with favor by the Goddess for your continued efforts.”CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Gwen glowed with pride, oblivious to the tease in her sudden rush of admiration. "She is beautiful, is she not? Oh, now I simply must pay her a visit. She deserves to be admired at all times of day. And Caedmon does as well, of course," she added quickly, with a sheepish smile. It was not a lie; Gwen genuinely considered Caedmon to be a beautiful creature. But Charlotte was her other half. Nothing could trump that.
Her lips curled into a smile once more. 'Apt', indeed. Truth be told, she did not understand why Ashelia couldn't simply tell him to lay off. Unless she had, of course, in which case a proper beating would be in order. Assuming that she would even be able to lay a hand on him. Guinevere was nothing if not realistic about her current abilities: as of now, Alexander was much more skilled than she. She would work on that, of course. But it was not up to her to question her friend's motives or actions. She would simply support, in the best way she could.
Gwen laughed aloud, and lightly pressed her lips to the back of Ashelia's hand. "I swear by the Goddess above and my parents below, may they rest in peace, I will defend your body and your honor as fiercely and valiantly as I do my own." The spark in her eye flashed once more. She was just full of ideas today. "And, if I may be so bold, I would suggest bestowing the sailcloth upon yourself. A lady may choose to be her own hero, after all."

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Guinevere was certainly blind to all but her own Loftwing. That was as it should be, right? Ashe merely giggled in amusement as her teasing tone was ignored as she spoke so highly of Charlotte. It would be an enjoyable diversion to visit both of their Loftwings for a short while. Getting away from the attention in the Academy would be a decent way to distance herself from it all. Ashe was certainly attempting to act with poise and grace as the Goddess certainly would, but all of this had taken her off guard. Young squires were certainly appearing out of the woodwork to hopefully have her bestow upon them the sailcloth for this year’s festival. “We shall certainly pay them both a visit to pay them proper tribute,” she replied with a laugh. Spending time with a friend who did not care for her new ‘role’ would be a relief. Ashe held back a laugh as Guinevere pressed her lips against the back of her hand. It was truly like she was swearing in a Knight to protect her from an evil most dangerous. How could she ask for a better protector than the one swearing fealty to her now? Of course, this was all in good fun until the Goddess Festival was at an end. It would be quite amusing to watch her friend scare off all of the younger squires. As for Alexander? Well, Ashe would have to rely on herself to make sure she stayed one step ahead of whatever he had planned. “You have my eternal gratitude, my most faithful Knight,” she replied soberly. The serious countenance faded as she broke into a fit of giggles over how silly they were both acting. At least this would provide them both with some fun while they waited out the rest of the month. Bestowing the sailcloth upon herself? It was certainly a tempting thought. Ashe would not have to worry about giving it to someone that may take the gesture the wrong way. That was not the way this ceremony was supposed to work, though. Her Grace had given the Sailcloth to her Chosen Hero, and Ashe would do the same when she found someone worthy. Someone that was not actively trying to stalk her, anyway. “A good idea, but I think the instructors and Headmaster would not be too happy with me if I did that. I am sure I can find someone that will take good care of this sailcloth. I have all month to find him or her, do I not?”CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Gwen’s heart soared. Being with Charlotte was truly the best part of all this – and flying with Charlotte was simply amazing. She couldn’t wait to spend more time with her. Actually – Gwen looked quizzically at Ashelia. “Would you perhaps like to go flying, when we visit them?” she asked. “I am sure they would both appreciate the opportunity to fly with us without looping and rolling and diving every which way.” Some of the harder aerial maneuvers were quite difficult, and while Charlotte enjoyed and rose to the challenge, she missed simply flying just as much as Gwen did.
She burst into giggles along with her friend. They really were being quite silly, but the younger squire meant every word of her vow. She found the boys’ behavior quite distasteful, and would do everything in her power to stop such nonsense whenever it occurred.
Gwen straightened up with a grin. “I suppose they would not,” she said, and giggled again. “But can you imagine the looks on their faces as you took the Sailcloth in hand and soared to the ground! It would be simply marvelous. And quite scandalous! Though I am sure you will find someone suitable, in time. Without having to play a dual role.” Just then, Gwen’s stomach growled. She grinned sheepishly. “However, I think breakfast should come before any of this. I think I will have tea and toast, myself.”
A thought occurred to her, and she tilted her head. “I have quite a few outfits that would look rather good on you,” she said suddenly. “Not quite in the same style as your usual summer dresses, but I think they will suit you nonetheless.”

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Flying would be such a wonderful way to pass the time. There was no hint of rain today, which meant that Caedmon would not be cross with her for asking him to meet her when they went outside. The aerial maneuvers were growing more difficult with each passing lesson. It was a miracle that Ashe had not lost the contents of her stomach in the continued attempts. Simply enjoying the feeling of the wind through her hair and against her skin would be reward enough for the day. “Yes, I would love to go flying. There will not be any rain today, which means Caedmon will be more inclined with the request. He is still somewhat annoyed with me for flying in the rain the other day,” she admitted with a sheepish smile. That day had certainly been an odd one. Was Alexander annoyed with her for not staying on the ground as he believed she had promised? Ashe had the inkling he would be more focused on attempting to get the sailcloth from her this year. How daring of her would it be for her to take her sailcloth and jump from the Statue of the Goddess? No doubt it would be a story to be told over the next year. Ashe would rather not experience the disappointed gazes of her instructors and the Headmaster, though. They had chosen her for a reason to the Goddess this year, right? “A thought that can be contemplated over a filling plate of breakfast.” Her stomach was certainly aching for a wholesome meal right now. Perhaps a blueberry muffin and some juice to satiate her hunger? Ashe somewhat feared going up to the counter by herself, though. No, she would not be wandering around the Academy without Guinevere by her side. A little cowardly of her, but her friend had sworn an oath to protect her from these fan boys! Her head tilted to the side at the subject change. Clothing that may fit her? Ashe knew Guinevere certainly had an eye for anything fashionable. She certainly enjoyed flattering clothing beyond the dresses she usually wore around Skyloft. “I would enjoy seeing what you have in mind for me. Nothing wrong with acquiring more outfits to show off. I doubt anyone else here has an eye for color and fashion like you do,” she replied brightly. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Excellent! Charlotte would be pleased. Gwen couldn’t imagine taking her out in the rain, though. She didn’t much care for rain herself, so she had no desire to fly in it, but Charlotte absolutely detested bad weather. She was ill-tempered at the best of times, but she got mean when it stormed. She was even cold towards Gwen. The most she had been able to make of the loftwing’s nasty temper was that she felt personally offended and betrayed by the sky, which was just such a Charlotte way of thinking.
“I cannot believe you made him fly in such horrid weather,” she said, shuddering. “And I cannot believe you wanted to fly in such horrid weather! I am not sure if that is admirable dedication or foolish recklessness.”
Right, breakfast. She kept forgetting about that. She couldn’t focus on getting food and conversing with Ashelia at the same time. Truly, she needed to learn how to multi-task. Her one-track mind was rather irritating at times. She extended a crooked arm, offering it for her friend to take. ”Shall we, then?” Gwen would remain at her new charge’s side as much as she possibly could. So they would go to get food together, of course. She took her new job very seriously.
Guinevere giggled. ”Flatterer,” she accused in a teasing tone. ”But you are right, of course. If I could fight enemies with bolts of cloth and excellent fashion sense, I would. But I cannot, and so I must remain with my terrible, beat-up fake sword that does not feel comfortable in my hand in the slightest.”

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Being accused of being reckless was nothing new for Ashe at times. Had not Alexander said something along those line when she spoke to him of her plans? How would Guinevere react if she knew that she was saying something quite similar to Alexander? Ashe knew the younger female held no affection to the male at all. Honestly, she wondered if anyone did spend time with him beyond her. It was a somber thought that did sadden her somewhat. His demeanor was something not many people attempted to get past, but she knew he could be kind should the matter call for it. Ashe was simply used to his ways, so he did not bother her for the most part. Honestly, she had grown quite adept at staying one step ahead of his motives most of the time. His attempts at goading Caedmon had proven that. Her lips curled into a slight smile as she merely shrugged. “I enjoy the rain. Caedmon does not mind too much as long as we stay within sight distance of Skyloft,” she replied. Getting sick in the rain was never much of a concern for her. Ashe could not remember the last time she had been sick. The rain had never been a reason, and she hoped it never would be. Her eyes glittered in amusement as Guinevere held out her arm for her to grasp. As long as the offer was there to accompany her, then Ashe was more than happy to take advantage. Her stomach was certainly eager for a solid breakfast before she met the day with her eyes constantly flickering over her shoulder. Her arm slipped through her friend’s as she lead the way towards the breakfast spread. All she had eyes for at the moment was the plate of blueberry muffins. “I speak only the truth. I would make a poor Goddess if I only spoke lies to my most faithful Knight,” she replied with a mock expression of hurt. Training with the wooden swords could be difficult for those not interested in the art of close-range combat. Ashe was not too skilled with the mock weapons herself, which was why she had picked a staff as her weapon of choice. She had the intention of studying magic and allowing herself to use that as her choice of combat, but she had needed to train with a weapon of some sort. “That is why I chose to wield a staff. A Knight does not need to strictly fight with a sword. I am sure you would be allowed to use a bow if you asked.”CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Guinevere shook her head in disbelief. It was truly remarkable, though she was still undecided as to whether it was a good kind of remarkable or a bad kind. It was something, at least.
What she knew for sure was the good kind of remarkable, though: delicious breakfast foods. Ashelia was focused on the blueberry muffins, but Gwen went straight for the tea. Not that she needed caffeine, not with her ridiculous energy levels, but she liked the taste and smell of the warm drink, and she felt rather fancy whenever she had it. She fixed herself a cup, added a small splash of milk and a teaspoon of sugar, and swirled the liquid with her pinky. She stacked three slices of buttered toast and four strips of bacon on a plate, and picked up both plate and teacup as she waited for Ashelia. When her friend was ready, Gwen would escort her back to the table.
She giggled, then forced her expression into one of mock shame. ”I apologize, my lady,” she said gravely. ”Please forgive my most foul insinuations.”
She tilted her head, and sighed. It was all fine and well for Ashelia to use a staff – she was relatively skilled with it. She was comfortable with it, at the very least. Gwen had no idea if she was comfortable with archery or not. She just liked the idea of it. ”I suppose not,” she conceded, ”but I cannot help but hope that one day I will suddenly adjust, and all the skills I have learned over the past year will click into place. I do wish to attempt archery, but I feel as though I cannot simply abandon the sword, and I am unsure if I am capable of practicing both at once.”

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Ashe was quite happy to have her plate full of blueberry muffins to snack on. Perhaps not the best breakfast in the world, but she was too hungry to pick a more health-conscious meal. The scent was simply too irresistible. Her eyes flickered onto the steaming mugs of coffee set out, and she grabbed one of them after adding a generous helping of sugar. Ashe could not stomach the bitter taste of black coffee at all. At least this would perk her up enough for the rest of the day. Biting back a yawn, she walked back towards Guinevere to be escorted back to their table. She was quite glad she had run into the younger female this morning. Dealing with the younger squires would have been troublesome on her own. “You are forgiven, Lady Guinevere,” she replied with a grave expression. It lasted all of five seconds before she burst into giggles. How could anyone act so serious? A matter to consider later after she had assuaged her hunger. Ashe took a seat at their table and daintily took a bite out of her muffin. A part of her wished to ravenously bite into it, but she knew there were still eyes on her. She would act the part of the Goddess every moment she was awake. Well, at least while she was in public. Besides, she would rather not get the crumbs all over her dress in her haste to eat. Blueberry stains were difficult to get out! Emerald eyes peered up at Guinevere as she explained her dilemma. “Such things usually click into place when we really need them. Until then, ask one of the instructors if you could also practice with the bow. It is a noble weapon to wield. The wise man’s weapon. You can defend a city without ever opening it’s gates, right? It is something you could do in your free time,” Ashe offered as a suggestion. The bow was an admirable weapon to have skill in. At times she wondered if she should have picked it to wield herself. Perhaps in the future, but she was comfortable with her practice staves for now. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Ashelia was incredibly delicate as she took a bite out of her muffin. She was so ladylike – exactly how one would expect a goddess to be. She played her role well. Guinevere, on the other hand, practically inhaled her bacon, then wolfed down the toast in the same manner as a man dying of starvation. Somehow, she managed to remain nigh immaculate through this; she got only a few crumbs on her otherwise-pristine blouse. She brushed them off, reclined in her seat – as she had previously been slightly hunched over her food – and primly took a sip of her tea. Such was the power of a dedicated mind.
Gwen tilted her head, considering her friend’s words, and smiled. “Did you know that you have the most incredible talent of saying exactly the right thing? I think I will do just that. Thank you, Ashelia.” Her main concern had been that she couldn’t practice both swordsmanship and archery in her day-to-day training; she had never even considered practicing one in official training, and learning the other on her own time. It was an agreeable solution, and she was eager to obtain her own bow. Well, she had been eager, for quite some time, but now that her dream was in sight, she was positively itching to get her hands on one.
She sipped at her tea once more, and held the warm cup in her hands. She was silent for a time, thinking.
“My mother fought with a sword,” she said eventually, her voice quiet, her smile subdued but nostalgic. “I remember her showing me how to care for it when I was young, perhaps seven or eight years old. By all accounts, she was an excellent fighter.” She rolled her cup between her hands. “I only wish that I had inherited her talent.” |

You dance like a queen, in spite of all the things you never wanted Ashe was sorely tempted to moan her pleasure as she took another bite. Now that would be an even more of an unseemly sight. Perhaps Alexander would enjoy hearing such a sound from her. Her lips quirked into an amused smirk at the thought, because such a thing would not be happening this century. She was amused to watch Guinevere devour her meal with only a few crumbs touching her clothing. At least she could do such without making a mess, right? Her fingers curled around the mug of coffee before taking a long sip of the sweetened brew. Hopefully it would give her more energy to get through the day. Ashe could still feel the holds of sleep on her, and she had to bite back a yawn just at the thought. Going back to bed was a rather tempting thought. She hardly wished to sleep her entire day off away, though! Her head tilted to the side at the kind words. A small blush dusted her cheeks as she merely waved her hand in dismissal. “I am just glad I could help. Perhaps we could both practice archery together sometime,” she replied lightly. Hopefully her aim would not be too horrible if she practiced with the weapon. She certainly had enough calluses on her hands from practicing with her staves, but a bow would require much more arm strength. The silence between them grew for a few moments as they both grew lost within their thoughts. What would happen when she eventually did gain her knighthood? Ashe wondered if she would feel any different than she did right now. Excited? Fulfilled? Proud? Perhaps all three of those things. She nearly jumped when Guinevere began speaking once more. Her tone had a more nostalgic and quite tone as she spoke of her mother. Ashe reached out to gently pry the warm cup from her hands before holding one of her hands in both of her own. “I am sure you did. You are quite dedicated in your practice of swordsmanship, despite it not being something that you have a passion for. I have seen you practice, and I believe you have a good talent with a blade. Talent only carries you so far, though. I am sure she would be quite proud with how far you have come,” she reassured gently. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

And of course, he was here. He was always here. He was always around here and always showing up at the worst possible moment just to make things horrible or awkward or something. So that was why when he strolled into the cafeteria, taking a look as all boys turned to face him. Oh yes, with Guinevere's temper, and his stubbornness, it was fairly clear that this would probably erupt very quickly. Still, Alex could understand their glares. After all, he was close friends with the goddess and because of this it was all but guaranteed that he would be winning the cloth. At least, he was pretty sure it was guaranteed. Ashelia could be pretty damn weird. And that was when he saw her. That sail cloth looked quite amazing around her. Yes, they definitely made the right choice in making her the goddess this year. Approaching the table, uncaring what Guinevere might say or think, he looked at the two of them, wearing his fancy coat that Ashelia had bought him. He loved this thing, he truly did. "Ladies." He stated simply, taking a good look at the fact they happened to be holding hands. Why were they holding hands. He looked at Ashelia, then at Guinevere, then back to their hands. He wondered what happened to be up with that, though it wasn't long before he said something about it. Taking a step forward, he looked at Ashelia for a moment before finally opening his mouth. "Ashelia, love, if you wished to include the intimacy of a third party for our future relations then you need only ask; I would have happily acquiesced to your request." He stated without a hint of sarcasm, swaying just a little, or a hint of humor detectable in his voice. It was as if he was completely serious about this. Was he actually serious about it? Not that it mattered, the fact of the matter was that he had said it, and that was all there was to it. tags: ashelia, guinivere notes: everyone can see it CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

YOU ARE A MEMORY THAT CONTINUES TO DREAM
| Gwen’s cup clinked as Ashelia pried it from her hands and set it on the table. Her friend’s hands were warm around Gwen’s own, a reassuring pressure that comforted the younger squire and soothed her quiet anxieties. She let out a breath that she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
“I…” For once in her life, she found herself at a loss for words. “Thank you,” she said softly, looking down at their entwined hands. She took a deep breath, and a smile made its way back onto her lips. “I am sorry. I meant to help you with your burden, and instead I am forcing my own upon you. I did not mean to—”
She stopped abruptly, her entire demeanor changing in a flash as her eyes narrowed and her shoulders tensed. He had entered the cafeteria. And he was headed directly towards them. Intimidating as she was towards many of the other boys in the academy, she knew that a simple glare or mean word would not scare this boy away. Not from her, anyway. She contemplated attempting to beat him into submission, but she felt that would not go over well either, as he was easily more skilled than she, at least for now; that aside, she had no desire to upset Ashelia or make a spectacle of herself in such a public area.
Guinevere bristled at the heavy implications of the boy’s – seemingly serious? – remark, anger growing in the pit of her stomach. He was so – inappropriate. Who said such things in a room with so many other people? Not to mention that it was a slap in the face to Ashelia’s honor, implying that she would have relations with a boy so thoroughly obnoxious and unpleasant to be around. As for the suggestion of relations between Ashelia and Guinevere herself… well, Gwen wasn’t particularly attracted to her friend, or women in general, for that matter, but the idea of it didn’t bother her, as Gwen could not be a slight to one’s honor if she tried. And at least she would not make such lewd comments. Not in public, anyway.
Though the irritation emanating from the younger girl was almost visible, it was so intense, she forced herself to ignore the boy and place her other hand on Ashelia’s. She smiled sweetly at the other girl. “Shall we go, then, my dear? I fear I will not be able to protect you from your stalker brigade—” Her gaze flickered pointedly towards Alexander. “—in such an enclosed environment.” |
