Baako stood on the edge of Faron woods with his little wooden sword in hand, eyes staring into the thicket with a excitement shining on his face, 'What if we stumble on to a hidden cave?! Or an abandoned mansion riddled with cobwebs?! There could be heaps of Blins moving through the area, or a giant Keese that turns people into monsters!!' Despite the seemingly morbid thoughts, Baako was beyond ready to move as his mind raced through plenty of probably unlikely scenarios.
The youngster had on his work pants, a pair of brown trousers that were patched up from various tears and smudged with dirt that just didn't wash away. They were thick enough so that no nasty plants would prick his legs though, and if they did have to get into a deep dark cave and crawl around it wouldn't do to wear his best cloths. The trusty pack was strapped to his back with all of his worldly possessions inside but plenty of room for mushrooms inside. There was supposed to be someone else with him, a girl if the name was anything to go by and he hoped she'd hurry. Otherwise he might just go it alone, but his father always warned him that it a bad idea.

Mia was following the dirt path that lead through Faron Province. The merchant lass was using her stick as a walking staff to help stabilize herself. She was more used to the paved city streets and not a goddess-forsaken path only animals would use. Of course Mia didn't see it that way. Soon she arrived at what she supposed was the meeting site. The only other person there was a young boy about her age. "Oh, hello! Are you Baako?" She called out. "I'm Mia, I'm here to help pick mushrooms." She was nervous. She had never been so far away from Castle Town before without her brother or uncle. "So when do we start?" The sooner they started picking mushrooms the less nervous Mia would become, hopefully. Mia looked around the spot they were in. "So where are the mushrooms anyway? I don't see them here."LAIKA OF GS!

The boy was blasted from his thoughts with the sound of someone calling his name, and when he turned to greet his fellow questie Baako couldn't help but be taken back. With a name like Mia Baako had assumed it was a girl and he was right in that regard, but apparently he subconsciously thought she would be one of those tomboyish girls who was covered in scars and dirt, much like the few back home. Imagine his surprise at being faced with a beauty who looked to be around his age, 'Man, they don't make em like her back home.' He might have been staring a little too long, but hey, boys will be boys, "Uh we can start now if you want. They should be growing around here somewhere, probably a little further in, Mushrooms usually grow in damp places." Sometimes it paid to be the son of a farmer, who knew stuff like that would come in handy. Now that his thoughts were back on the quest and away from the girl he could feel that excitement bubbling in his chest again, "Alright, lets go!" With barely contained enthusiasm, Baako started into the woods.

Mia stifled a giggle at Baako's extended stare. She was used to people watching her in the marketplace, guards making sure she's safe, older women who kept clicking their tongues at the "Poor child, growing up without a mother." What did they know? Her mother was coming back one day. "Oh! We have to go deeper in?" Mia thought about what her uncle and brother would say if they heard she was wandering around a forest looking for mushrooms. "Well lead on then." She smiled at Baako. He was kinda cute she supposed, in a down to earth sort of way. "Do you know these woods well?" The merchant girl asked. "I've never really been outside of Castle Town, a few trips to Kakariko mainly, nothing as far out as Ordon though." Mia tried to make idle conversation while they walked along the path. LAIKA OF GS!

Finally!! Finally Baako was getting into something beyond the norm....Ok so maybe he was just wondering into a known part of the woods for the locals, and no, he wasn't on a quest to retrieve some ancient blade of evils bane, but this was all new to him and damn it he was going to enjoy it! They were still to close to the edge to call themselves in the forest but with each step the trees grew thicker and the sunlight a little rarer.
The girl, Mia, had let him lead which was just fine but he wasn't but a step or two ahead of her, you never know what could be lurking in the brush after all, "Nah i've never been to these woods myself. Funny thing is this is my first time without mom or pa in any kind of forest, but don't worry. I'm sure we don't have to go to far." Ah so she was from Castle Town, that was a pretty good distance to walk at least a week if he figured correctly but then again maybe she came by horse.
The thing that buzzed in his mind was way come down here from a place like that? From what his parents told him Castle Town had everything and anything under the sun, with exotic items matched only by those that brought them. "Ordon is where I'm from. I tell you ain't nothing special about the place, mostly family or people who have had it with the rest of the world." Baako couldn't help but think of the old shop-keep, Ruby, when he talked about home. She was always on his side when he came to trying to convince his parents to leave town. "Old folks say Ordon is no place for the young and restless. So, what brought you down here?"

Mia looked in awe at all the lush greenery around her. "So many trees! And so big too! Is it true that there's a tree in the forest that talks to people!" The legend of the Deku Tree and the Kokiri children was one of her favorites to hear. "I would like to see that someday."
It was fascinating to listen to Baako talk about his own life. So different from her own despite their similar age. "So you've never been this deep in the forest before? What if we get lost!" She teased, a huge grin on her face. "I guess then we would have to eat mushrooms until someone finds us." This was followed by a fit of giggling from the Hylian girl.
"Aside from possibly getting lost, I'm glad I made the trip down here. So green and pretty." Mia clasped her hands behind her head. "So Ordon's pretty small then? Nothing like Castle Town. Golden Nayru Castle town can get so packed it get's hard for even me to get around and look at me! I'm tiny!" Mia gestured to herself as if sizing herself up. "One nice thing about Castle town is meeting new people, especially when they come to my stall."
Mia began humming a simple tune. "Dah-da-duh. What was that?" She asked, not quite hearing Baako's question. "I came here for the mushrooms silly. I'm hoping we can pick enough for me to sell back in Castle Town."
Mia thought for a minute. "Hey, maybe after this you can come back with me and I'll show you around Castle Town." A perfect idea.

He was so enthralled by her descriptions of the other towns that he nearly tripped over an up turned root. She probably couldn't see it but, Baako had the hugest grin on his face. Life would sure be interesting in a place with so much going on, with different things to see and experience all for what he hoped would be a small price. Almost instantly he was in fantasy mode, picturing himself seeing a huge castle with armed guards at the ready, a bunch of knights on patrol while the king walked about waving at his people. Yes in his mind the big city would crush whatever small town blues he carried with him.
'It'll be nice, but i won't spend too much time there.' While Baako would one day visit each city the world had to offer, well, he would try his best too anyway, the boy knew that a life on the road was what he craved. To seek prizes hidden behind dangerous beings, to break up monster dens that threatened to overrun an area, things like that were the true prizes in which his heart was set. But before he could slaughter Blins and pillage their corpses, he had to find some mushrooms.
"Yea that would be nice, you could even be my tour guide." While he spoke Baako approached a rather large tree with plenty of shade. They were probably deep enough to find some mushrooms now, and as he ruffled through the grass a smooth surface brushed his fingers. Gripping it firmly the ex-farmer plucked it from the ground to inspect the item. It was a mushroom, of that he had no doubt, but this one was a dull brown and thus not the object they needed to complete this walk in the woods.
"Ah its a no go. Should be plenty of spots to look though, the guy did say he found them in this forest after all."

"Whoa, are you okay there?" Mia asked when Baako tripped over a root. "Do tree roots usually pop out of nowhere like that?" Mia teased Baako a bit more.
Mia looked around the forest. "Hey, aren't those mushrooms up there?" She ran forward before quickly kneeling, causing her to slide to the mushrooms. "Are these the mushrooms we want?" The merchant girl grabbed a couple of them to show her companion.
"I guess even if these are the ones I made them useless." The mushroom tops had broken off when Mia had plucked them. "I'm not sure how to pick mushrooms, sorry."

Now it was his turn to chuckle at the girl's antics. He walked over to get a better look at the mushrooms that she'd found. There looked to be one more, and indeed its orange top was clear to see, "Good eye! These are what we're looking for alright, but when you grab 'em go for the bottom. The roots don't look too strong and it should give way easy enough." Indeed with a simple tug of his wrist Baako plucked up the fungus with no trouble at all.
"One down, nine to go. You wanna keep em in your pack or should i use mine?" It really didn't matter who carried them, but Baako offered just in case she wanted to use it for future reference. Once that was decided the boy turned to look for more shrooms.
"So is it true that Castle Town is full of the knights and tournaments of skill? Could never tell if the people were pulling my leg or not."

"Woohoo!" Mia cheered. "Alright I'll remember to pick them that way." Mia was too excited to be upset she broke the other ones. "We can keep them in your pack for now I guess. If that gets too full we can put some in mine."
Mia started skipping down the minimal dirt path. "Well," She began to answer Baako's question. "The Royal Family hosts a tournament a few times a year. And everyone gets in on the celebrations." She sighed thinking about the last one. Her shop had done more business then than it did during the rest of the year. "There hasn't been one in a while though."
The shopkeeper almost ran ahead to a cluster of mushrooms but stopped when she noticed they weren't the same color as the ones she had found earlier. "So what do you plan on doing after we get all of the mushrooms? Any grand adventures ahead for you?"

Placing the shroom in his pack Baako listened with glee as there were apparently events held in Castle Town, even if there hadn't been in a while to him it only meant that there would be another soon. There were all kinds of plants around them, but none of them seemed to be the right color, "No clue. I really just wanted to get out of town, see the world and explore. Adventures can be around the next corner, at least i like to think about it that way! I mean we could stumble across a treasure trove guarded by a frenzy of plants or something and that would be amazing!"Ever the energetic one, Baako sprang about the place as if there really was danger around ever corner, and in this case he happened to be right. As he round one of the many trees, Baako was brought face to face with a tall blue plant. At first he thought nothing of it, his attention on the orange mushrooms at its base, but then it started to move revealing several sharp yellow teeth. He ran forward with a yelp as the the plant snapped at him. He was lucky to avoid it, but now the carnivorous plant was between him and his partner, "Uh...little help?"
