雪 に 覆 わ れ た 森 "You're leaving again?" Were the words that Valerie's father had said to her. He was solemn, and she was blunt. Valerie's mind was constantly swimming around her father; there were no other distractions out in the snow. Regardless, Valerie was drawn away from the snowy province and into the rest of the world, but only momentarily. She liked to entertain the though that if she didn't journey down for better food and supplies, her father eventually would. In the back of her mind, though, she was convinced that her Father really would let the harsh cold kill him. The Peak Province had really grown on her, but it was no place for the warm-blooded to thrive. A hop, skip, a jump, and Valerie was back in Hyrule Field, just outside the bulk of Zora's River. This river ran through the country, so it was hard to notice. The journey itself was in obscurity--partly due to the Peak Province's isolated nature--but now that she treaded alongside Zora's River, she was out in the open.
Travelling was somewhat tricky for her. The snowy north is too cold to expose yourself, even for a moment. As a result, Valerie found herself in the warmer climate of Lanayru with heavy, concealing cloth. From top to bottom, she was dressed in brown cotton and a white, furry hem. Along with the fur cap and ear muffs, Valerie looked like a walking set of cloth, save for the upper part of her face.
Eventually, she intended to break off from the river and head into the Castle Town. With the bright, partly cloudy daytime, some kind of ambush out in the field was unlikely. Heat stroke would get her before anything, but the normalcy of Lanayru was an inconvenience when compared to the lethal conditions that Desert Province would give her. Never the less, Valerie took the cap off her of her and grasped it in her right hand. She wore the pair of muffs around her neck. She could be better distinguished, and some of the heat that built up inside her clothes could escape. Next, she decided to take off her gloves and stuff them in her pockets. The cold didn't stick around as much as it used to, perhaps because of the extended visits. She either felt stuffy in her heavy clothes, or she felt naked in lighter clothes. Hopefully, she'd be able to find a pleasant middle ground for apparel. For the time being, she contrasted harshly with the greenery along the river.

Today, I needed a break My friends are up in mountains and I'm drowning in lakes I swallowed water right in front of her face Just to show that she had nothing to say -- I saw water * Rath's free fall was going about as well as expected. After tripping over the edge of Skyloft, the young waiter was caught by his equally incompetent loftwing, Bellwether. The oversized vulture used his wing to quell an itch on his crown. A single stroke of the massive wing was enough to whip the boy's entire body downward and send him shooting down toward the surface. Moments later, the loftwing realized that his owner had been falling to his own death by impact.
The boy was already having his own romantic thoughts of his own shattered remains being deliquesced into the soil. Liquid nutrients that were once his bones and flesh, could be returned to their rightful place. It was a beautiful thought really. It wasn't as if the poor boy was completely miserable nor did he have any deep-rooted longing for death. Things just happened, and he just accepted them. The innocence of an obedient child is a powerful and terrifying thing.
Luckily for him, his beloved loftwing didn't share these sentiments and raced downward to catch him. As Bellwether forced himself to match Rath's speed, the boy smiled at his bird once they found themselves shooting downward at an adjacent parallel. While Bellwether squeaked in a frenzied panic, Rath just let out a relieved sigh and a weak giggle, as he stroked his beloved bird's feathers.
"Thank you Bellzy~" he said with an inappropriate nonchalance. Moments before impact, Bellwether managed to swoop under Rath and charge an incredible gust with his wings, breaking both of their falls. Bellwether quickly plopped up, annoyed with his master's deranged recklessness, and pecked angrily at him. The boy laughed, almost maniacally, humored that he'd survived. His confused and irritated companion, gave him a loving wing smack on the head, and flew away back to Skyloft. The loftwing likely get lost many times on the way, but it was a much better alternative to staying on the surface. He would return when Rath needed him back down.
The boy found himself face down in a flowing creek by the river, his underwater giggles sent small bubbles erupting on the surface.
waddle, waddle, waddle~ waddle, waddle, waddle~
He just kept swaying side to side in the water. Amusing himself until something more interesting came along, or more likely, his need for air. Tagged: Peeps words: enough Notes: yo

the power of love is more lethal than steel Venus oftentimes tried to avoid the River Zora as much as possible, she really did, she didn’t want to run into anyone who knew her at all. That would be… really bad. But, the river was the fastest way to travel through Hyrule, so it was the river that she found herself in, shooting through the water at a brisk speed. She had to admit, while the open freedom of the Great Sea was an actual paradise to her, there was a certain something about feeling the icy cold water run over her entire skin as she swam upstream. It felt refreshing, and very cleansing to her. She almost could have relaxed, were it not for the sudden collision with something large in front of her. Smack. She yelped, and pushed a hand forward in surprise, trying to steady herself. Her other hand rested on one of her two maces, ready to take down whatever threat she was facing now, whether it be a hostile Zora or a creature or a… Beorc kid? The boy was literally facedown, floating just above her, blowing bubbles into the river. She shook her head. Beorcs. Honestly. She sighed, and drifted up a little so that her upper body was out of the water and pulled the kid up with her. “Hey, kid, stop that. There’s more than one Zora in these waters, and they’re not all as friendly as I am,” she said. She let him go, and pushed back her wet hair with one hand. What was she going to do with him now. She scanned the area, looking for the kid’s parents, or friends, or whatever. There was some girl standing a little ways off from the river, probably the one responsible for the beorc. “Hey, you two should probably be off soon, right?” she called out, hoping to get back to traversing the river as soon as possible. Mordra found herself wandering as far away from the Gerudo desert as possible today. The Zora's River was calm today, and as an added benefit, none of those pesky fish people were around to spit their vile bile at her. Occasionally her thoughts drifted to the cultural damage that would be done if she were to accidentally cast a thunder spell in the river. As she continued to walk upstream, something curious caught her eye. The unmistakable color of blood wafting downstream. Wondering where blood could be coming from, Mordra quickened her pace. Soon the Gerudo Witch arrived at the origin of the blood. Standing there were two beorc children and a Zora bitch. "Not that I care but are you trying to kidnap these two, Zola?" Mordra accused, using an archaic derogatory term for river Zora. Mordra soon appraised herself of the situation. And found the source of the blood. A rabbit. A dead rabbit brought her all the way to this predicament. "Fuck!" She swore under her breath. LAIKA OF GS!

雪 に 覆 わ れ た 森 With another hop, skip, and jump through t i m e a n d s p a c e, Valerie found herself among strangers, next to the river and in a creek. Unfortunately, Valerie's judgement lead her to stay a stranger among strangers, and all of her clothing was back on, hat and all. Her gut for survival was telling her that she wasn't in danger, but she had made the decision some time ago not to ever cozy up to strangers out in the wilderness. Somebody was questioning her. Regardless of tone, she didn't answer her. She felt that it was in her best interest not to humor them--less distractions make it easier to learn a creature's motives. Deciphering situations was important for survival, which is something her father had made her accustomed to. Yet she didn't feel threatened. The whole situation felt awkward with the oddities and crude wit.
Valerie kissed her teeth. Her arms dangled next to her waist for a brief moment, then her hand began to feel around the hilt of her weapon, brushing it with her fingers--but never grasping it due to her lax demeanor. 'Should I kill it?' is always a question she asks herself mentally, and it was very clear that in this case, the answer was a hard 'no'.

Today, I needed a break My friends are up in mountains and I'm drowning in lakes I swallowed water right in front of her face Just to show that she had nothing to say -- I saw water * Rath paused his joyous absent-minded waddling to look up at the developing situation around him. A collision with a Zora woman had interrupted the sheer euphoria that was playing in the water. Although, Rath couldn't bring himself to be mad about it. She was probably so used to the river, she didn't appreciate the subtle nuances of it's glorious streams enveloping your body. Physiologically, it was impossible for her to experience the euphoria of the pre-drowning stage. So Rath looked upon her with his kind, if not mildly terrified of humanoid interaction, eyes.
"Th-thank you. I'm sorry miss…I.." she looked familiar, but the boy couldn't quite put his finger on it. She was gorgeous, that was a given. It was almost alienating, she looked more like a perfectly chiseled sculpture than a person. Perhaps Rath just hasn't seen much art in his own lifetime, or because she actually did look familiar, but something about her seemed transcended over actual people. Still, it was doubtful that there wasn't anything personable about her.
However, he didn't have much time to ponder, as his attention was suddenly directed to the girl standing over them. The Zora had assumed that both Beorcs had been together, presumptuous on her part, but a minor infringement probably done by someone with legitimate bias. Although being grouped with the second group highest on the food chain was more preferred than the truth. The gold band around his neck felt tight, the more he thought about it. So he studied the the girl just a few knocks over.
She was funny looking. Not insultingly, but if Rath gazed upon her anymore than he did, he would legitimately giggle. There was an endearing aspect to her neutral qualities. An almost-androgynous charm seemed to glow, from her rather displeased face. Not nearly as intimidating as the Zora who had knocked into him, this girl seemed like someone that would be genuinely interesting to know. Given that he'd already been forcibly associated with her, might as well. Rath climbed up over to the land and stood a few feet away from her. Unsure of how to interact, he was going along with the presumption that the two of them knew each other.
Before he could craft a medium for conversing, a chilling aura dispersed throughout the air. Rath looked down to see a Gerudo woman addressing the Zora, animosity was clear. The boy was too terrorized by the air around the Gerudo to study her. However, he was unsure of her accusation of the Zora. He was intimidated by her, sure, but her presence didn't expel any malicious feelings.
Rath trembled, as he felt the negatived energies being tossed around by these three. He felt some type of mild concern for the Beorc girl and the Zora, but the Gerudo seemed to only invoke fear within him. TLDR: RATH was being awkward cute about venus and valerie. he stutter apologized to venus, and is a huge indigo-gos fan, he just isn't registering anything because of sheer awe. mordra scares the shit out of him. he is now standing next to valerie trembling. y'all intimidating the boy

the power of love is more lethal than steel Venus nearly giggled at the antics of the little beorc boy she’d found. Well, he wasn’t exactly short, but he looked so young! If she was the family type, and not a Zora, and not technically sworn into xenophobia, she would have scooped him up and taken him under her wing. Her happiness was interrupted by the harsh sound of a woman speaking, accusing her, Venus, of all people, of trying to kidnap the beorcs. Well, granted, she just admitted that she considered adopting the young one, but that was beside the point, and a stupid idea to start with. Seriously, what would she do with them if she were to kidnap them, or anyone for that matter? What a dumb accusation.
The raucous voice belonged to a Gerudo woman, and Venus groaned. She really didn’t want to get into it with anyone today, least of all a Gerudo. They weren’t as bad as Hylians, but they were annoyingly violent all the time. Venus replied smoothly and cordially, for now at least, loving how much more in control her sonorous voice sounded in comparison with the borderline barbaric Gerudo.
“I’m doing no such thing, I’m just here passing through when I ran into this one, and would have been off already had you not jumped to such rash conclusions,” she said. She placed a hand on the boy’s head, and added, “I wouldn’t use such harsh language around such innocent ears, Gerudo.”
She pulled herself out of the river all the way now, standard black dress clinging to her and dripping with river water. She shivered slightly, it was a feeling akin to slipping out of the warm blanket of sleep to face the icy air of reality in the morning. Everything outside of the water was much more harsh, and bright. She pulled out her maces from her belt, both gold weapons glittering with water droplets in the sun. “I really wouldn’t do that at all,” she said, the threat seemingly masked by her honeyed voice, but Venus knew that the battle trained woman would pick up on it. Briefly turning her attention to the other Beorc she said, “and for the goddesses sake, would you please do something? Your friend here almost drowned! Have you no heart?” Venus could feel her displeasure for the other two strangers growing by the second. Such irresponsibility. my heart is cold, you can't leave
Mordra thought for a bit. "I'm sorry I acussed you without evidence, but you must admit, the River Zora have a less than pleasant reputation towards other races." She explained. "You cannot fault me for my assumptions. The image was startling and I jumped to a wrongful conclusion." Mordra apologized.
Mordra was finished here and turned to walk away when she heard Venus start berating the Beorc children. "She's clearly helping this lad toughen himself up for the world out there." The Archwitch came to the defense of Beorc girl. "I'm not sure you've noticed in the safety of your rivers and seas but the real world is dangerous Zora." Mordra scolded.
"My own homeland is far more deadly than your river. If it doesn't kill you with it's scorching heat during the day you will freeze at night! Even the wind means death in the desert!" Mordra practically yelled this last part at Venus. The witch wasn't going to leave now.

雪 に 覆 わ れ た 森 Valerie gently pressed her teeth against her own tongue. She brought her hand up to her face, obscuring it as she pinched the bridge of her nose. By principle, she made no conceptions or prejudices of others based on how obnoxious they were or weren't--at least on a social level--but there was a truth to the situation. Her participation was often marked with indifference, even in the most grave of situations. As bad as that may seem, such a situation where Valerie must put survival firsthand is not as common as encounters such as this. If a man is incompetent enough to drown in a creek, she'd give him the courtesy of turning him over. "I don't believe I'm acquainted with any of you," she said aloud.

Today, I needed a break My friends are up in mountains and I'm drowning in lakes I swallowed water right in front of her face Just to show that she had nothing to say -- I saw water * Misunderstandings galore. Rath had wanted to explain that he was actually playing in the water and not drowning, but thought better of it. Waddling in puddles and blowing bubbles seemed pretty fucking unimportant compared to accusations of kidnapping, physical conditioning, whose homeland was the worst, and friendship. The girl who had been assumed to be the boy's friend, had rejected any and all connection to him.
Like fuck you for even trying, Rath. Did you think she'd just play along? You're a fucking weirdo. People have their own safety to worry about, you're a goddessdamn liability.
...well enough of that. Ahem.
The animosity between the two older women was panning out into full-blown racial tension. Rath's stay in Skyloft had sheltered him from the racism, and well, blatant jingoism of the surface. From memories of childhood travels and having nothing to do but read dusty books, the boy pondered the social situation of the races. Zoras tended to be Ethnocentric without subtlety, but were never openly antagonistic. That seemed to reflect enough with Venus, who's…wait, how the fuck did he even know her name. Rath re-played the latest instances in his head, focusing his memories on her face. Oh, she was thaaat Venus. Leaving a mental note to hit himself up the head later, Rath was annoyed that the initial shock prevented him from noticing sooner. The teen adored her music, he kept her first record in his satchel with him at all times. Although, perhaps this wasn't the best moment to ask for an autograph…or an interview.
The Gerudo woman had said something earlier, still on the poor boy's mind. "...clearly helping this lad toughen himself up for the world out there…" Rath silently pondered her words, as they rang in his head, Had he still been so obviously weak? He was free of his terminal illness, and making a living in a military town. Yet, his disposition was so meager, no one would have known. Or even care to know. Had the terrifying woman's words stayed on him, Rath would have crumbled into pieces, suffocating under his own self-doubt. Shit was already getting kick started by that girl. Luckily, she had bigger fish to fry. Or well, try to anyway.
Rath would take a personal offense to this. He had very little investment in his own feelings, but he didn't really appreciate anyone else being marginalized. Watching the value of an artist, even just a person, he admired be questioned...it just didn't sit right. "H-Hey! That's not true." Rath replied, body shaking. "That's Miss Venus, she knows all about the dangers of the world. She's went out to see it, she's wrote about it!" the boy clenched up a bit, wincing at the part that would resonate. "...and the sea, isn't as safe as you think it is. You can't drown in a desert, but you can be hunted and you can starve at sea, j-just like a-anywhere else, lady!"
