a wolf is called a king of beasts Any time that Falcar had to visit the castle of the Royal Beast in Gallia was a sort of miniature homecoming, a blast from the past. He’d been born there while his parents had been away from Hatari, and had often come back to visit as a child to learn the politics of the place. He was glad for those early lessons now, they were going to come in very handy today. The Royal Beast had summoned him for a diplomatic meeting, and he had to oblige. While not a technical subject of Gallia, he was still required to obey the requests of leaders more powerful than he.
It was through these familiar halls that he walked now. Falcar had arrived extremely early, he’d misjudged the time needed for travel, and was now simply on his own self directed tour of the place to kill time. Obviously, not much had changed in the historic castle.
He caught sight of an open balcony overlooking the treetop view that Castle Gallia was so famous for, and swayed over to stand on it. There wasn’t much to see that was new inside, he thought he’d give the outside a try.
The trees were refreshing to see. All that green was still fresh and new on his eyes – though he’d been staying in Ylisse for a while now, on a leave of absence from his own castle, he’d still not completely gotten used to seeing anything except sand.
Lost in thought, he continued to gaze out into the green expanse, waiting for something, anything to happen before he had to depart from beautiful open spaces into a stone meeting chamber. Tagged: AyahNotes: trees Word Count: 276

t cha | Sometimes the laughter of children begins in shrill murderous cries, this was one of those times. A blood curdling squeal left the child`s lips and travelled down the corridor. Ayah laughed with the child. She was playing with a group of children, running up and down the corridors. No one really seemed to pay them much mind; they were left to do as they wish.
At the moment, Ayah and the four other children were playing tag. Ayah was "i"t, she ran quickly up the halls after her victim. It was this pursuit that had resulted in the screaming. As Ayah ran, she slipped and toppled over. All the other children stopped, as she hit the ground with a deafening “thump,” the stone hallways always amplified sound. One child, a small boy no older than elven ran towards, he was the one she had been chasing. “AYAH! Are you o- Who’s that!” The boy said. Ayah, still laying on the ground, lifted her head and turned to see a man on the balcony. She knew who he was instantly, this was the man she was writing letters to. This was the man who ruled Hatari, this was the man the Royal Beast was speaking today. “Falcar.” Ayah whispered.Falcar Lorrastamere | [attr="class","ist"]nge |

a wolf is called a king of beasts Ayah first impressions matter, kids 209
| Screams echoed down the stone corridor. Falcar instantly went into a defensive position. What sort of danger could happen in a place like this? He stood, confused, not moving until he could figure out more about the situation. If there was a true threat, shouldn’t he have been warned ahead of time?
Before he could grasp any more understanding on the screams, a group of four little beast Laguz came hurtling around the corner. They stopped short when they saw him, and stared. Was this the source of the screams? Who would dare chase and hurt these children?
A fifth body was added to the mix as a much older being slid and crashed to the ground. The childrens’ pursuer? Falcar stormed over to the girl, prepared to fight her should she be terrorizing these kids.
“AYAH!” one of the little ones screeched. Now it was Falcar’s turn to stop short. Ayah? That was the name of the Wolf Laguz who was living with the royal family. He’d heard her name before. He knelt down to the ground and looked directly into her eyes. “Are these children hurt? Why are they screaming?” he asked. He couldn’t imagine that she was causing them harm, but for now, safety meant everything. |

t cha | Before Falcar’s name could escape Ayah’s lips he was looming over her, it was terrifying. Her was the only other Wolf Laguz Ayah was aware of, in the flesh, right in front of her.. asking her if she hurt the other kids. Wait. He thought she hurt them.
Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no.
That wasn’t good. What if he thought she was a terrible person or something? What if he wanted nothing to do with her now? What if he didn’t believe her when she tried to explain they were just playing tag? So many questions ran through her mind, she began to feel a tightness in her chest, a shortness of breath. Oh gosh, no, not now. Not now. Why now.
As she fretted over having a panic attack things only got worse. She began to feel like she was choking, her breath was coming in short little gasps. She… she had to sit up. Yes, sit up. Ayah sat up, facing down the hall the way she had come, the fear on her face more obvious than her race. Tears began to roll down her cheeks; Ayah had gone completely oblivious to everyone but her and Falcar. What if Falcar told the Royal Beast… would they make her leave? Where would she go? She clutched her fists together, trying to prevent her body from shaking, trying to stop herself from crying.
“I..” Her words got caught in her throat. “I.. I wasn’t doing anything wrong!” Wrong came out like the shrill whine of a child, but mostly because it was forced. The length between her words varied as she tried to catch her breath. “We were just playing a game!” Her voiced continued on in its shrill broken pattern.
Although she was still uncomfortable and her heart was beating so fast… she found she grew calmer as she spoke. “Puh… Puh.. Please don’t tell them. Don’t tell the Royal Beast.” She looked at Falcar, her face puffy from crying, her voice still so shaky. “That’s.. that’s why you are here right?” She blushed, and looked away.
Did she ever feel embarrassed, what a child she was. Isn’t that what people were always saying to her anyways? Well, at least she wasn’t freaking out so much now.
