“Oh my goddesses!” a young hylian girl squealed happily, “This is going to be so much fun...” It was difficult for her to contain her excitement. Who wouldn’t be ecstatic about being able to participate in the Festival of the Goddesses? Despite the fact that Castle Town was her place of birth, Seyka grew up in the reclusive province of Ordona, so with her small town mentality... everything was pretty much overwhelming. The streets were pretty much swarmed with pattering feet, clusters of chattering, and people swimming through the crowds to get to places.
There was a stream of aromas stacking on top of one another. Meat roasting on an open fire sprinkled with exotic spices to make anybody’s mouth water. The heavenliest fragrances of baked goodies coming out of the oven ready to sell for hungry festival participants to buy. Sweets of all kinds being sold for children who wanted the sugar rush or the typical sweet tooth. It was hard for the little Hylian blonde to pick what she wanted to try first.
“Ah!! Games, there are games to play too,” she exclaimed excitedly. Her short attention span was whirling all over the place changing from the food stands now over to the games hosted by various stalls. There was a stand where one could attempt to knock down a stack of bottles for a prize. Seyka also saw a mini archery gallery for everyone to take a chance at. Strike a bull’s eye to nab a prize from the various point systems. Then she noticed there was a lottery booth. A test of luck to earn either rupee prizes or some nifty little gift for joining the game. “What to do first... What to do first...” she murmured softly.
Well, she didn’t have long to find out before her train of thoughts was interrupted. With a small ‘oof!’ she staggered backwards after accidentally bumping into someone. “Oh no! I’m so sorry about that. I didn’t mean to.”

He noticed that this had been getting common. This time he hadn't really bothered to wear the super spiffy coat. Just his regular hoodie would do today, he thought. Not that it mattered, he was already captivated by the attractions this festival had. Plus he was finally getting to go to the surface. He had never been allowed to do so, so the fact that he could just made this a whole new experience to him. So many things to do , there were so many new people to meet. There were some foods he had never tried that were down here that he loved. Why couldn't Skyloft at least let everyone fly down to this place all the time if nothing else? That still didn't change the fact that a girl had bumped into him. Taking a good look at her, he had to admit that she was actually really cute. The nice blonde hair, the dress, and that little ribbon in her hair helped. She was short though, really, really short. Then again, in a way that just made her all the more adorable~ Really, part of him just wanted to pick her up and give her a good squeeze, because she was just plain cute. Still, she was sorry, and the truth was there was really no harm done. She was a small girl, and it definitely wasn't enough to shove him over or anything like that, just stumble a little. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't have some fun resulting from this. So he just paused for a moment, contemplating. However, that stopped pretty quickly as he leaned in rather close, easily invading any personal bubble that she had set up. "I suppose you'll have to make it up to me then~" Maybe they could find something to do. Always nice to meet new people, even surfacers! He hadn't really met much for surfacers, so the opportune moment seemed to have arrived, he was really enjoying this. tags: seyka notes: d'awwwww CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

The little Hylian child got a better look at the person she ended up bumping into. A young boy, probably give or take a few years older than her, and naturally much taller. She internally groaned realizing now just how much shorter she was in comparison to most people. Seyka kept telling herself though that when she got older then she’ll get taller! Just you wait and see~ She’ll probably be one of the tallest Hylians that Hyrule has ever had in existence. Though she was totally digressing on the matter at hands.
It didn’t appear at first that the boy was mad at her for bumping into him. In fact, she got the exact opposite, as he broke what personal space she attempted to form between them. Oceanic blue eyes flickered up brightly as she swallowed a lump down her throat. “Make it up to you?” she repeated, blinking a few times absentmindedly. “I suppose that wouldn’t be a bad idea. Yeah, I'll make it up to you. What would you like for me to do, mister?” She offered him a smile. She did feel bad for being rude – even if she didn’t intend for it to happen. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be really upset with her. Especially if she could make it up to him somehow!
“Just name whatever it is you’d like for me to do for you. I'll do my very best to make it up to you. I really am sorry about that,” she said happily, “Oh yeah, my name’s Seyka. Seyka Rozengale, but you can call me Sey for short.” This has the spelling of either the poor little Hylian girl setting herself up to a prank. Or it could be a lot of fun. Meeting new people was also part of the allure of these festivals, after all~

Well, she seemed like she wanted to make things up to him. Not that he ever really had a problem with what had occurred, he was just enjoying himself. But who was he to deny the young girl such a nice offer, especially when she was quite cute to boot. There was a part of him that just wanted to lift her off her feet and give her a big hug. That probably wouldn't go over too well. Well still, he had to admit that her bubbly personality was rather endearing... And also infectious. Way too infectious for someone like him to be getting hit with. No, he was supposed to be snarky, that was how it worked. He just needed to focus! Unfortunately, he failed more than he would care to admit, instead leaning to something a bit more playful. "I'm not sure. Looking at it now, we may just have to figure it out." He said, staring wistfully at the sky. Some ideas were rolling around in his head. Some were good, some were bad, some were odd, but some were evil. "Why don't you allow me the honor of taking the lovely lady for a few games and we can think of something, how does that sound?" He offered. She didn't seem much younger than him, and she actually was fairly cute. Plus he'd only be here a few weeks, so he might as well enjoy himself. That said, he did have an idea. Truth be told, he figured she'd probably like this one just a bit more than the idea of playing a few games. He could be completely wrong, which would be fine he figured. But he was offering her a rather rare opportunity. "Or, perhaps you'd like to join me in the sky on my loftwing." He wasn't sure how highly held the squires were. He knew people wrote stories about the knights, but usually the closest they got was a squire just turned knight or something. Still, might be nice. tags: seyka notes: i just did what are you going to do about it >w> CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

Ever since she was a little girl (or rather when she was a toddler) learning about the world around her, Seyka's mother raised her to always be on her best behavior. One of the ways to show she was a grown up was if she made a mistake then it was her duty to apologize as well as make it up to the person. Was it something she absolutely had to do every person she bumped into? Probably not. Though in the case since it was brought up she didn't have any quarrels. Sey
Sey was at least grateful though that the boy wasn't yelling at her. Some people could really grumpy if somebody crosses the wrong foot with them. Good thing this young man wasn’t one of those people~
Games? The eleven year old Hylian girl loved games! That sounded like it could be fun! Wait, she was a little confused though. How was playing games going to make it up to the boy for bumping into him? Oh well~ Blondie wasn't going to question it too much. “I’ll let you know now that I’m a pretty good player at games,” she grinned confidently. “Don’t expect me to go easy on you if want to go that route.”
Then he offered her if she would be interested in joining him in taking up to the skies on his loftwing. She stood there in silence for a moment. She blinked a couple of times blankly trying to let it register on her blonde head. Was he joking? He was from Skyloft? An actual Skyloftian! “No way! You’re from Skyloft?” she exclaimed with great surprise, “Only Skyloftians have loftwings. Or at least that’s what I heard of. Is it really true?” She was totally missing the whole purpose of what Alexander was intending. The naïve little blonde was all excited about meeting someone who lived on the isolated Island in the sky.
“Hold on just a minute, mister,” she crossed her arms over her petite chest, “It’s bad manners to offer spending time with a lady when she doesn’t even know your name.”

She was good at games? That's pretty good to hear. He wasn't that bad himself, so he felt that he'd be able to at least keep up if she turned out to be as good as she said she was. He wondered what kinds of games there were besides the usual. Maybe chess or something? He could go for a game of chess, he was pretty okay at that sort of thing. Maybe not the best, but it wasn't like he would lose to literally every single person, thankfully. But he still had a feeling that she would be more interested in the fact that he was from Skyloft. Most people seemed to have been fascinated with the Sky Dwellers, humorously enough. And he was correct she was completely fascinated and excited to learn that he was one of the Sky Dwellers. She seemed positively giddy to know that he was from the sky. "Sort of. Flightless variations have been bred down on the surface, but they're nothing compared to the real thing." No overgrown chicken would every be able to match up to Gwaihir, no matter how hard they tried. "Regardless, as you asked, my name is Alexander Sorel. I entered into the tournament." And he was doing well too. He always found it funny that everyone thought he was full of hot smoke, but every time he proved them wrong. He was pretty sure he knew what she was aiming for now. Which was fine. Putting his fingers to his lips, he let out a loud whistle. Truth be told, it was completely unnecessary, one bound with their Loftwing could call them telepathically, but it made for a nice show. Sure enough, a few seconds later, Gwaihir ended up landed right on the pavement, talons clashing with the stone. Gwaihir didn't like being here, Alexander understood that. So he hopped up on the red feathered bird immediately, but patted a spot in front of him and motioned towards Seyka. "He won't stay here long, he doesn't like the surface, are you going to hop on or no?" tags: seyka notes: so cute CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

Alexander Sorel. She heard his name! Of course, he was one of the contestants in the tournament. She wasn't around when he took place having to take care of her own match. “I wish I could've seen your matches, but I entered the tournament as well,” she offered a small smile. Needless to say, she wasn't a pushover as far as combat goes either~ Speaking of which, she hoped she found her opponent back at the match in the festival again. She wanted to tell him she hoped they could be friends afterwards.
In the mean time, Sey Sey was excited to met yet another Skyloftian! The little blonde girl considered herself a very lucky girl as far as the festival goes.
The older boy lifted his hand up to let out a audible whistle into the air. A few seconds later, Sey Sey looked around for a moment before watching a giant bird descend from the skies. She let out a loud gasp staring in complete awe as the bird landed. It was a loftwing! A flying, majestic creature of the sky right then and there. Alex made it look so easy to just plop onto the bird then offered for her to come join. “Is it really ok?” she asked. “As long as mister birdie doesn't mind then I would love to~!”
She approached the feathered creature slowly. Seyka paused for a moment to figure out how to scramble up before she just decided to hop on. She adjusted her skirt as she perched herself comfortable. Her tummy was filled with butterflies in anticipation having no idea how to feel about this. How could any surface dweller know what it was like to take off to the skies? “Do all residents of Skyloft have loftwings?” she asked curiously.

With a few flappings of his wings, Gwaihir immediately started to fly into the sky, away from the castle. Alexander felt home. The wind whipping against his face as he looked high into the sky as they headed towards the clouds. "Yes. We get them at around thirteen or so. That's when I got mine." He had to admit, it was kind of nice being the center of attention. So many surfacers were curious about their ways of life. "When the time comes, we go to the Goddess Hylia, and she grants us our loftwing." Well, they go to her statue, but the loftwings themselves came from Hylia, she just never made a personal appearance. At least he thought they came from Hylia. But what were the loftwings? Well, most people would answer a giant flying bird that some people were just lucky enough to get. Those people didn't know what it was like. He figured you actually had to be from Skyloft to genuinely understand what t was like. "They are a half of us. Legend has it that when a rider or a loftwing dies, their other half dies with them." That was the best he could put it as. He figured that the truth was that words alone really couldn't describe the bond that a rider felt with their loftwing. It really didn't quite fit into anything most other people described as bonds. "Now whether that's true or not I don't actually know." Though he had no intention of trying out that legend either. As they breached the clouds, the moisture whipped past them as what was above the clouds became clear. One large city far off in the distance that seemed in disrepair. The other was much smaller, but much closer. What was interesting about the latter was the small, barely recognizable shape of other loftwings. "And that, is Skyloft." He said, pointing to that smaller mass of land. As for the girl in front of him, he just simply gave her some advice. "Just relax and hold on. You're in the hands of perfect coordination." Telepathic bond and all. They wouldn't get screwed over and if they did they could just catch her. tags: seyka notes: see that's cute too CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

As soon as the loftwing extended it’s mighty wings out not long did it take before the two of them took off to the sky. Seyka let out a cry of excitement as she attempted to keep herself steady. Higher, and higher, and higher they flew until not only did the ground look microscopic but the Castle of the kingdom looked nothing short than a child’s toy from their height. Oceanic blue irises widened with awe and wonder as she couldn’t believe just how high they were flying. “Brave Farore, we’re flying!” she squealed happily. “This is the best day ever!”
The clouds surely enough were right within her view. All of those days she could only dream of ever touching were now within her grasp. Skyloftians got to live with this every day? They were so lucky!
As they soared across the sky, Sey Sey listened attentively to Alexander explaining how the dwellers from the sky receive their loftwings. It wasn’t something that came with being part of the island. They received their loftwings at a coming of age of sorts. This would make most sense seeing as there were a lot of dangers in regards to living so high up. “That must mean the Goddess was king enough to let everyone who lives up here have a friend. I don’t have anything as impressive as a Loftwing, but I do own a horse and a sailboat of my own.” There was no doubt that flying beat any of those methods of transportation. She wouldn't trade Aslan or the King of Red Lions for anything else in the world.
Not long after they broke through the barrier of clouds did she see the very peak of heights. A sea of clouds hovered all around, with little rocks floating around in the distances. What was visible in her line of vision was the sight of a floating island that looked like it was ready to fall apart. Though her focus changed over to where Alexander was pointing out. It was Skyloft! “Woooooow,” she gasped in awe, “I can’t believe it. I didn’t think I’d ever get to see these things before. This is really amazing!” She looked back over to Alex just in time to hear him say relax, and enjoy the ride. Sey Sey didn't have any problems with that! “Say, I have a question,” she started, “How come the Skyloftians only stay up in the sky? They never come down the visit the surface, like, at all?”

It was just too much. omigod she was just so cute! Her bubbly nature was way more infectious than he had expected it to be. So he just reached over and started stroking her hair. It was sort of like he was petting a really adorable kitten. She just had so many questions. But why did they stay in the sky? The Princess had asked this question as well, he noticed. It seemed that not a lot of people understood where Skyloft stood when it came to the world. Well, this was supposed to be a learning experience for everyone, might as well at least help. Not that he really minded. Part of him enjoyed getting to explain this sort of thing to everyone. "We're neutral. We stay out of the affairs of the world because to get involved with the affairs of the world is to take a side, which we don't do." He shrugged. That was the easiest way to put it. "We're only down here because getting everyone to stop fighting is considered to be a universally good thing." That said, this was an exception. Who in the world could oppose peace amongst the races, especially when older and fouler things lurked in the deep places in the world. Those things that go bump in the night, and could awaken. When they did, the world needed to be united, otherwise Skyloft could only do so much. That said, this girl managed to impress him. He had seen her match. What happened did not happen all the time. "I saw your match against Sebastien by the way. It's not often a surfacer beats a Squire." Yes, he doubted Alistair would object if he attempted to. Skill was acknowledged, and hers could be refined. "You know, I doubt you're thirteen. If you came with me to Skyloft, I could get you enrolled as a squire. You'd get a Loftwing of your own come thirteen." If she was thirteen, then she really did not look it. She looked a couple years younger, to be honest. But still, the offer had been made. tags: seyka notes: anything sey sey does is cute CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

It was probably true that many people from the surface wanted to know about what it was like to live up in the skies. Was it any different up there than it was on the ground? Did they have unique traditions that differed from Hyrule? It didn't help that the curious little blonde was raised in Ordona Province. Her education on the world was only limited to what her father had taught her over the years. Even then, she still wanted to know more. She felt that she'd only truly understand if she interacted with other people.
Different from her race, her town or even her country altogether. Riding up in the skies solidified that belief~ Alexander explained to her that Skyloft remained a neutral party so they didn't have to pick sides. “That's an understandable reason,” she agreed with the fellow blonde. Nobody was perfect but that was the reason why societies were established. To help large populations to live prosperous and harmoniously, right?
Her bright blue eyes flickered up when he mentioned that he watched her match against Sebastien. Did he really watch her in the tournament? Oh goddesses, that was a little embarrassing! She lifted one palm up to rub the back of her head sheepishly. Though the real reason behind why he brought that up took her by surprise. Her stomach fluttered as if a million butterflies began tickling inside. Enroll as a Squire to the Knight Academy of Skyloft?
Become an actual Skyloftian?
“Is that even possible?” she asked in disbelief. “I mean, I'm only eleven, but I'll be turning twelve real soon... but, but, isn't there like any special requirements to become a Squire? I was under the impression that Skyloft only accepted the best.” She couldn't believe it! Sweet love of Nayru, she was being offered a chance to become a Squire. A whirlwind of emotions quickly worked it's way trying to dominate her train of thoughts. She had to hold tight to make sure she didn't fall down. This was all so surreal!

His offer definitely seemed to entice her. Good, good. That meant she was interested. He could tell from her words that she was skeptical, but she was definitely interested in the offer. Well that was an excellent thing to hear. If this continued, Skyloft would be getting an excellent addition. "You beat an actual squire. That wasn't someone who lives on Skyloft, Sebastien was an actual squire." Still, he did reassure her that she qualified. "You did this with, from what I could tell, no formal combat training." She seemed to be going on instinct, refining that could turn this small girl into someone to be feared. "I would say that qualifies as the best."Aside from the obvious, food and boarding and having to take classes and such, there was one thing he mentioned. "When we become knights, we take vows that we will fight against any evil that would threaten this world, not the petty squabbles of mankind." When evil, actual evil rose up against the world, then they took action. It was humorously a position of great respect, even if that scenario hadn't taken place for hundreds of years. But everything Skyloft had done in the past had not truly been eroded away by the ebb and flow of time, and even a knight could go to the court of Hyrule and demand a king, and it would likely be granted. Though watching her try and hold on was also adorable in itself. He just simply reached out, grabbing the young girl and pulling her close to him. "Hey now, be careful~" He teased. They didn't want their potential newest addition to fall before they could even get her enrolled did thay? "Anyway, at your age, you'll receive a loftwing just in time." If she was only eleven, turning twelve, it'd be no issue. "So what do you say? All I'd have to do is just turn and go to Skyloft, and within the day I could have you enrolled in your new home." Granted, it was up to Alistair in the end, but he sincerely doubted the old man would say no after the sheer talent Seyka had displayed. tags: seyka notes: good, steal her from the surface >w> CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

It must’ve been a big deal for someone who lived on the surface to defeat a Skyloft squire. Seyka honestly didn’t think of it as a big deal at all. In her mind, she was having fun along with testing her strength in real life combat. She felt like most of her luck and skill came with thanks to her father showing her the basics of how to handle the weapons she went into the tournament with. To think, such a performance impressed Skyloft that she could potentially become a student at the Knight Academy!
“I could become a Skyloftian,” she thought aloud. That would be pretty much the coolest thing ever! Learn how to become a Knight that defends the earth from evil or those that threaten the land. Not to mention, be able to fly on a Loftwing in due time! All that sounded really awesome to the little blonde…
“… but becoming a student means I would leave the surface behind… wouldn’t it?” she inquired confirmation. “I wouldn’t be able to see my parents or my friends who live down here, huh?” It took some thinking but eventually the price that had to be paid for making that choice came to mind. How would her parents feel about her attending Skyloft’s Knight Academy? Or how about the friends she’s made over time?
“I’ll have to think about this seriously. There’s no turning back once I make the choice.” Opportunities like these don’t come around often. Though she did have to acknowledge all of the things that she would be sacrificing in order to grasp this chance. Would all of it be worth it in the end? “I’ll need time,” she finally answered him, “I’ll be staying in Castle Town as long as the Festival is running. I’ll give you my final answer before it ends. How does that sound?”

He figured that she might like that, but it didn't take long for the reality of the situation to set in for her. She wouldn't be able to see her friends or her family, not for a long time, or perhaps ever again. Alexander gave a soft sigh and continue to pet her head. "Yes, unfortunately. But that is a sacrifice that those from Skyloft make." Being a squire meant that you couldn't really have what one would consider a normal life. It meant that your life would be used in order to defend the world from whatever darkness threatened it. It meant that you were a soldier, and that you were expected to be one when the time came. Looking at Gwaihir, he looked back at the island of Skyloft off n the distance. "You do have the loftwings, the renown, the training, the familial bonds that comes with the position, but you must leave your life here behind." It was quite a lot of pros, but the cons existed, but many considered it to be worth it, and for their sacrifices, the world respected them for everything they did. "It's why most squires come here from birth." That way they didn't really get to know what it was that they were giving up in the long run. But at least they weren't barred from every single thing. With that in mind, he couldn't really blame Seyka for being a bit hesitant when it came to making a big commitment like this. "But I understand. If nothing else, I can give you some tranquility for that decision." For now, he could just keep her n the sky, and he could just keep from talking. He always found that his thoughts tended to be more clear when they were flying. So for now, he'd just say one more. "I'll just take a little memento~" He remarked, reaching over to untie her ribbon and try to take it for himself. Either way, he'd give her some time to think it over. tags: seyka notes: it's a tradition CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

There was definitely going to be a lot of things to think about. Was this, a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, worth leaving everything she knew about the surface as her home to become a squire of Skyloft? It was exactly as Alexander explained to her. With joining the isolated Island up in the sky, there came a sacrifice to make, a departure from the place that kept her rooted close to her heart. Seyka let her gaze fall down to the sea of clouds hovering below them as they glided through the air.
She then lifted up her head to peer at Skyloft over in the distance. A place she only heard of by stories from her parents. Right there in front of her~ “Either way, whatever decision I make, I do appreciate the offer,” she said with a smile back over to Alexander. She would absolutely love the way the wind blew through her hair on top of riding a loftwing. Along with learning how to become an actual knight! She always dreamed of becoming a knight but to think it would be presented her in this fashion. It was almost surreal.
She really appreciated that he would give her some time to think about it overall. It wasn't like she was pressured to make a choice right then and there. Though what she didn't expect was him to untie the ribbon in her hair. All of a sudden, the Hylian girl's blonde locks spilled out from it's silk bind fluttering like spools of ribbons in the wind. “Hey...” she tried to protest but then stopped, “Well, take good care of it until the next time we meet.”
It was precious to her because her mother gave it to her. While Seyka wasn't too enthusiastic about becoming a lady of high status or anything of the sort, that was a gift all the same she gave to the little Hylian girl. The rest of the ride across the sky passed by in pure bliss. Never in her life has she ever experienced anything of that nature before. Needless to say, it was definitely a life-changing experience - in more ways than one! By the time they descended back to the surface, Seyka slid off of Alex's loftwing. Before they're temporary departure she gave a polite bow, then smiled back to him.
“We'll meet again, Alexander. Hopefully sooner than later~”
